2016 Honda Classic: Discussion Thread

GolfWRX is live this week from the 2016 Honda Classic at PGA National's Champion course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The course plays as a 7,158-yard par-70, with a group of holes down the stretch (Nos. 15, 16 and 17) ominously named "The Bear Trap" -- named after a redesign by Jack Nicklaus in 1990.

The Honda Classic attracts a number of the world's top players, including Rory McIlroy, currently ranked No. 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings, Rickie Fowler (No. 5) and Phil Mickelson, who's looking to build on a strong start to 2016, which includes a second-place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

At last year's event, Padraig Harrington defeated Daniel Berger in a playoff, ending his seven-year winless streak in the process. Both will be back in the field for the 2016 event.

Honestly, so so so good. My pops was a GM and co owner of an Acura dealer in the 90's. From time to time he used to bring home the "demo" NSX for the weekend. At the time I was 8-10 years old and I was in HEAVEN. Loved that car. I used to have a S2000 in college, which isnt the same, but had the 9k redline vtec. Sold it after I realized that it is the least practical car ever. My clubs had to ride shot gun. Still miss it. He's still in the car business but on the bank side of things now and a couple of his clients are acura dealers. As soon as they get one in, im heading down to check it out!!!!

I still think the older NSX's look real good but I wouldn't kick that new one out of the garage.

The OG NSX is a timeless classic from a styling standpoint.

That original NSX was so sweet, loved that car. Yeah, the new looks ok too...

Anyone else shocked that Fluff is carrying for this youngster while Furyk recovers? He has to have a pile full of $$. Why not just take a few months off? He was even working Monday qualifiers with him.

I'm not shocked at all. It's probably not about the money, but I'm sure it helps. But it's probably more about getting a young player a leg up and help him mature faster. Having an experienced loop is a major advantage.

Totally agree. Great opportunity to have an experienced caddy on his bag. Sung had caddie problems at TP which led to a MC. With Fluff on the bag Sung shot 60 at AT&T and then top 10 last week at Northern Trust. Look forward to seeing Sung in a few weeks and asking him how Fluff has influenced his play.

I guess those are Flatso 1.0? I think Kevin Chappel was using a Square SS on a fullswing club to help relate the grip / hand position to clubface position. I'm guessing Matsuyama is doing the same?

Those Egyptian geese are possibly one of the most annoying birds on the planet, they ruin golf courses as well...
