It does not bother me one bit, I wear what is comfortable for me and if it happens to be all Nike or Puma, orange and white or red and black...do some guys make comments?, of course, but I just concentrate on playing golf, life is too short to worry about what others say about you or what you are wearing or playing...go and get whatever you like, wear it and have fun...

There's a reason golfers developed a reputation as bad dressers.

It's also the reason so many guys play really early in the morning (to get out of the house wearing what they want before their wife wakes up).

If you're comfortable with who you are, you can wear what you like and are comfortable wearing as long as it conforms to the course dress code. Don't worry about whether or not somebody thinks you're trying to dress like someone famous. That's their problem.

I fully understand what you are feeling. I had those same exact feeling last year. Being new to more competitive golf and joining a club I was actually feeling under dressed but did not want to wear clothes that I kind of felt that I haven't earned yet. I ended up giving in and buying some nicer clothes. I can tell you that I feel better about myself and it almost seems as though I am more respected. Most folks don't care about what you wear but if you are under dressed you will almost always be seen as a hack. So I say get your new wardrobe.

As you long as you have the game to back it up. An 18 handicap dressed like Rory or Ricky is not a good idea.

agree, your game has to back up your outrageous clothes. the day of the posh CC and dressing to impress are gone. no one cares what you wear i've seen both jeans and sneakers that can go real low and dress to impress that can't break 100. 1st rule of thumb make sure you use a mirror before leaving the house.

How do you guys go about dressing without someone labeling you as a Rory poser or calling you Ricky? Or does it not bother you?

I want to buy a new golf wardrobe but don't know I should go about it?

To offer some actual help, I'd recommend looking at any of the guys wearing polo. Justin Thomas has some great color combos. he does wear some crazy pants on occasion.

Spieth has some solid combos, but can be a bit vanilla. If I were buying a new wardrobe, I'd get the following

shirts- white/navy/green/purple/grey

shorts- navy, khaki, grey

belt-I have a cheap brown belt/ as well as a web navy belt mix and match as appropriate

white shoes for me, JAck and arnie wore them. good enough for me

I save black shoes( and clothes) for winter

I really like the button-down collar polo s***. I think its a nice way to stand out, but still keep it classy. Uniqlo has some in a dri-fit/tech material

Ive written about golf style here : http://nooga.com/169586/golf-style-keeping-your-look-on-course/

You can wear whatever you want to wear....but.....

I personally do not like to be the guy wearing all one brand. Like the guy that wears Nike shoes, Nike pants, Nike shirt, NIke glove, Nike hat, Nike clubs, Nike balls, etc.

I also just don't like big brand logos. I would rather wear a shirt with a logo from a golf course I've played, than wear an "Under Armour" shirt. And most pants I wear are just dress slacks without a logo.

I don't know why...i guess I just don't feel worthy enough to dress like Jordan Spieth or Jason Day just threw up on me.

If I were buying an outfit today, I'd look into:

Hats: Classic white Titleist, Taylormade New Era, or white Nike.

Sunglasses: Oakley Prizm Golf (they're pricey but 100% worth it).

Polo's: Nike, Under Armour, Adidas all make polos in an "athletic cut" which looks much better than a polo that fits like a shower curtain and makes you look insecure.

Belts: Adidas Trophy, Nike, Ace of Clubs.

Pants: Nike, Under Armour, Adidas

Shoes: FootJoy, Adidas

I don't honestly pay attention to how much of any one brand I'm wearing. If I can avoid it, I don't have a swoosh on every article of clothing I wear, especially not a sizable one that you can see on my hat, polo, pants, shoes, etc.

Bottom line, wear what makes you comfortable and confident. When you beat someone by 4 strokes per side, does their opinion really matter anyway?

Dress for the game you want, not the game you have ... that's how the saying goes right?

My 2 cents: Put together a wardrobe you feel comfortable playing in. I know there are a lot of traditionalist out there that might scoff at the new tailored/slim-fit look that the young guys on tour are wearing, but a change in times means changes in style. I always dread showing up on the first tee with people that judge you on your outfit or your bag...but best way to get over it, put in your time on the range/course and let your game do the talking.

Even if your outfit is flashy or your matching bag screams WRX'r [i'm guilty], nothing speaks louder than a solid swing, splitting the fairways, hitting greens, and knocking in putts.

There are a lot of golf specific fashion labels these days that are more subtle and would never get you compared to Ricky or Rory. Dunning, Sligo, Maide, Travis Mathew, Polo RLX, J Lindberg, Linksoul. Check out fairwaystyles.com. They have all these brands, and they will have some really good deals on last years stuff to get you outfitted pretty cheap. It's a great website.

Good luck and have fun looking great on the course! To me, it's a fun part of the game, and I love dressing up and looking sharp on the course.

Who cares what people think. If you want to deck yourself out in all Nike, or Puma, and you enjoy wearing that stuff, wear it! Then stand up on the 1st tee and pipe one.

This is nonsense. Wear what you want. People at the course that love to make comments like "you see the swing on the guy on the range in the head-to-toe Nike gear? What a poser," is whats wrong with golf and makes me want to barf. I don't care if you are a +2 and wear jean shorts and a tank top or cant hit it out of your shadow and dress like Payne Stewart. Golf is supposed to be fun and if wearing all Nike or Puma is fun to you, have at it! Enjoy yourself.

If you show up in jeans that's not ok, and if you show up in a swoosh golf shirt, shoosh pants and a hat with a swoosh then Im a poser?

Wear what you want as long as you're within the dress code regulations of the course. SOME golfers are worse than teenage girls judging other people by how they look. Mind your business and worry about not catching your next shot fat. You wanna have a talk about my attire please meet me in the parking lot.

Start with a pair of jeans and then proceed with not caring what others think.

While I don't care if you wear jeans and support your right to wear them if you are allowed, I don't see why you would want to. I don't find jeans to be comfortable at all when playing golf. Regular denim is just not a fabric that lends itself to the walking and flexibility necessary during a round of golf.

Wear whatever you want. If you have friends like mine, and you don't want to catch h3ll about your "sponsorship" then I'd stick to a max of two pieces of gear per manufacturer. Nike shirt and shoes? Pick some other hat. I tend to stick to whatever "no name" brand of shorts fit well, and don't normally wear a hat, so it's pretty easy to avoid.

Just don't do orange on orange -- it makes people laugh.

I dress for the weather -- in summer, it light colors and white because it's hotter than hell, and white shorts or liteweight, white/light colored pants. In late fall/winter, it's darker clothing.

Be yourself -- don't be Rickie.
