US Open Oakmont

Going to be in Pittsburgh for the Pirates Giants games June 20-23. Thought I'd head down a day early and catch the final round of the US Open at Oakmont.

I'm wondering, should I bother to buy tickets ahead of time or get them at the venue; either at the gate or on the street. Also, if there is a playoff; how easy is it to get in? I've got nothing going during the day that Monday. The Monday play off ticket only comes with the weekly pass. I've thought of buying the week and selling off the other days, but that is a pain.

One last thing, is the 1895 club worth the extra $$. I'm thinking not. I've been to other events and they have clubhouse tickets which get you into limited areas of the clubhouse. They also had a different hospitality area which was somewhat lame. I'm thinking that this is what the 1895 will be like. I've not been to the US Open before.

Last time there was a Monday playoff at Oakmont, a ticket from any day got you inside. (YMMV)

I would buy Sundays ticket prior to the event, maybe via Craigslist, you don't want to risk it being priced as a "hot ticket" like if Tiger is in the lead on Saturday.
