Wearing Rolex submariner on the golf course.....

Would it be safe to wear the Rolex on the golf course. I don't want to break the thing. Any advice anyone?

I have lots of high end watches but I don't wear them on the course as I don't like the feel of them when I swing.

The more you wear the watch the more likely you will do some damage to it, but golf does not present any unique opportunity for damage (your wrist doesn't move fast enough to mess up the gears or anything).

I am not the type of guy that does not use nice things out of fear of damage, but a watch and golf don't mix for me.

I personally don't wear mine simply because I find it uncomfortable while playing. Obviously you have a higher exposure to damage or losing it on the course.

It comes down to whether it's your daily driver and how attached to it you are.

As long as you wear one on both wrists. Don't want to throw your balance off.

I do not, and I won't. The g-forces generated during a golf swing don't play well with the movements of mechanical watches. I don't have a link to it, but on a watch forum I frequent there's lots of info and experts all agreeing to not do it.

Just look to the watch maker Richard Mille as proof. They make the most impervious to shock, designed to be worn while playing sports (golf, Bubba Watson...tennis, Nadal) mechanical watches out there and the things are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Granted, a lot of that is paying for exclusivity, but there's a lot of tech in there too. They make models specifically for the forces encountered during those sports.

I have a lightweight Citzen titanium watch that is designed to wear while you play golf and I don't wear it on the course. It just bugs me to have it on even though my wife bought it for me for wearing while I played. I have a friend who wears a Rolex but puts it in his bag while he plays.

I usually give it to the valet at the club when he parks my lambo. He parks my Aventador, then takes my watch to get cleaned while I tee off.

I used to always wear a watch when I played. I did with a GMT for years w no issues

Funny - Tag Heur has info that they test their watches to make sure they will hold up to golf and tennis swings.

The info I have read say that the G forces at worst will cause you watch to lose time.

However I am still on the why wear it well golfing. Most of us that have some higher end watches also a few beaters to wear during more vigorous activities.

My goodness all the flak op is getting is a little crazy. The submariner, while a nice watch, Isn't that crazy and can be had for less than some of the Scottys that sell on here. To answer the question, just about any dive watch is perfectly fine on the golf course. They are made to withstand extreme pressure and the golf swing will do nothing compared to 1000 ft under water. If your watch is 18k+ gold I would be careful because it could ding fairly easily.
