I5 or S59??

Hello everyone, gotta ask a ? From my fellow WRX hoes!!! I currently play g25 irons and love them but the offset is slowly driving me crazy. I'm thinking of going blast from the past. I know both mentioned sets the I5 and S59 are cult favorites but does anyone have any input on either. I love the look of the S59 and from what I read they are forgiving (most stated easier to hit then my past irons S56). The i5 or i10 always wanted a set got a set of i10 in the past off the bay and never hit them because they came in pieces and sent them back) Long story short , what should I do WRX??Cast your rays of knowledge upon me!!!

I do have i5s and S59s FWIW.

I had i5s and loved them. I had s57s and loved them (not exactly 59s...but close). Can't go wrong either way.

honestly? neither... I have always heard old school Ping heads revere the i15 the most...

I'm a recent complete Ping convert so take this with a grain of salt...

i played a combo set of 3-5 i5 and 6-PW s59 from 2006 till March 2016. im not yet sure my s55s are equal or better...

I have played Ping since the K1 days (ok, no comments about age please!!). Played the Eye 2's for a long time and then went combo set of I3+ and S59. I really liked the S59 and honestly not sure if I hit the new ones any better assuming you took the number off the bottom and put the loft to make it an apple to apple comparison.

The two sets I never played but always wanted to were the I5 and I10. The 5 should be more forgiving and that had a pretty big cult following. Think DA Points still bags these on tour. They will have a little more offset than the 59's so that may make your decision. It doesn't bother me but that is truly a personal item.

For older clubs, you can't go wrong with either. Just remember the lofts are weaker so the 7 in those may be like the 8 in the newer sets.

I'd jump straight to the S56-58s. They're all truly great sets, forgiving, low centre of gravity. I have several clubs between S56, S57 and S58 which I picked up singly and they're all as good as each other. I could make an equally good case for any of them including the D57s.

I had a couple of i10 irons and I really disliked them. Not a highly rated Ping set.

I think the S56-58s are great short irons. Maybe keep your G25 4 and 5 irons.

I've had them all. I'm not sure you will see alot of difference in offset from the G25 and I5, maybe more so in the short irons. I actually thought the G25 offset was well masked. As others have said, I would try to find a decent set of I3/+ blades or maybe some I10's.

I5 and S59 are completely different. I've used both a lot....S59 are not "forgiving" clubs, they are maybe forgiving compared to a small blade, but not forgiving overall. The I5's are a bigger club that will be a lot easier to get airborn with the same shafts.

I've been debating on picking up a set of I5's, they would appeal to me more then the S59s, but that's just me and I game the I20s, so the look won't be that different.

The S59s will fly lower. I really liked mine, and I liked the ferrule Tour version. I also playe Eye 2s for years.

Reviving an old thread...I'm a Ping guy. I have (or still own) the following:

Ping Eye 2

Ping Eye 2 +no+

Ping i3 Blade

Ping i5

Ping i10

Ping Anser (1st Gen)

Ping S59

I still have all of them except the original Eye 2 (dang it) and the i3 Blades (double dang it). My favorite is the S59, followed closely by the Anser's. The i5's are really sweet too, prolly need to put some other shaft in it besides the CS's. Got the zz65 in the S59's and love them.

And, I have a set of S56 on the way from the bay...looking forward to hitting them!

It's a disease. I need help. And don't get me started on my drivers, 3 woods, and putters...
