Callaway Apex CF16 - BEST. IRONS. EVER......

Recommended Posts

Ok. Just got my set and played today. All I can say is WOW. Easy to hit, look great, feel great. 15+ mph winds today and it had ZERO effect on my shots. Gained a solid 15 yards per club which is a big deal for a short knocker! Wasn't expecting so much from the matching sand wedge to be honest, but it was great for chipping. Not sure how it will work out of actual sand. I don't see how anyone couldn't like these irons. Thinking of picking up a backup set lol.

Just my experience of course. I've played a lot of Cally irons over the years and these tick all the boxes for me.

They are long on my testing. These are the only set that tempt me from my accurate i25s.

I want to hit these. They look fantastic from every picture I've seen so far and heard the feel is SOFT, which I love. They're also "only" 2 degrees stronger on each club than my current (besides PW). I just can't justify spending $1200+ on a set of irons.

I just picked up my set of Apex CF/Pro Combo set yesterday and I'm dying to get out on the course with them. After putting the KBS C-Taper light shaft in my launch moniter numbers were insane with distance and forgiveness.

Where in the set did you make the transition being they are 3* off on the same number iron? The way I see it is you either have to have two of the same numbered irons or live with a 6* gap.....?

Callaway actually makes a combo set, most stores and courses don't carry it in stock and you have to order it. the 3-7 iron are the CFs and 8-AW are the Pros, what Callaway did is adjust the lofts so there isn't a gapping issue, along with putting the satin finish on the Pros. The change starts with the 6 iron which in the all CF set is 27 degrees and in the combo it is 27.5 degrees the 7 iron standard is 31 degrees and the combo it is 31.5. This big changes are in the Pros, where the 8 iron goes from 38 to 35.5 and the 9 iron goes from 42 to 40. The PW is 45 instead of 46 so not a huge change, and both AW are at 50 degrees.

I'm not sure if they are the best irons ever as that all depends on the individual who is hitting their favorite brand of irons. I do think they rank right up there with the T-MB's, PXG, Concept16's for they really are easy to hit. These clubs have so much going for them as they can be worked either way but more of a point and shoot type of iron for me. Excellent feed back and these are some of the longest irons to come out this year. The looks will turn heads as these are sweet for pictures just don't do them justice.

I have several rounds under my belt and I did need to get the lies adjusted as Callaway was off on their measurements. I put the new DTX Pure Grey grips on and they look so darn good with the Recoil shafts as this too my contribute to my added distance gains. Best choice I've made in a long time as Callaway has a winner with the CF 16 Apex irons.

I plan to get fit at the end of the season, hopefully I can find a grove with my swing. I thought these clubs were geared towards lower handicapped players? I consistently shoot in the mid 80s with an occasional bad/good round of low 90/80. Everybody who posts raves about these clubs. Any other clubs comparable that you guys think I should check out?

Just got a set myself and your review of the irons says it all. Yup on the back up set, [shaft trials]

Think i stole your tick all the boxes comment on a review of these on another CF-16 thread i posted on. Damn subliminal messages lol
