Changing to sweeper/picker

Due to age and increasing arthritis in both hands, I would like to try picking/sweeping as much as possible.

Looking for good advice in equipment and instruction.

Clubs: heads, shafts, lie angles etc

Setup and swing: grip, posture, ball position, swing plane, swing path, AoA etc.

I have done some research. The clubs I have with very little bounce are a set of Yonex Tour Forged, TT Lite with Sensicore.

Basically, what is it that makes a golfer a successful picker/sweeper.

Go for a set of hybrid style irons as these require less effort and you won't need to hit the ground. Cleveland HiBore irons used to be awesome for this. Also check out the Larkin Arthritic grips as my members love them.

You are definitely on the right path with Hybrid irons and some bigger grips maybe. As far as the swing goes I would start with everything on a tee. Even for better golfers this is a great drill to start working on. Simple tee it up nice and high and try to clip just the ball. What you will feel is your lead shoulder working more up in your swing and shallowing out you AoA. Eventually start lowering the tee more and more and continue to contact just the ball, with a little practice you will be able to get rid of the tee and produce the same feeling through impact to just sweep the ball off the grass.
