Dustin Johnson pre tourney press conference

So I just tried to watch Dustin's press conference. Being a South Carolina boy I really want to like him, and sure as hell admire his game. Is it just me or is this guy on sedatives or anything else that would slow the brain down? His answers are ALWAYS canned, with no sense of humor to be found. The best term I can find to describe him is vacuous. Sorry if I sound like a hater, but good Lord show a little enthusiasm DJ! It's not that bad of a gig....

I didn't watch, but pro athletes get asked the same questions 100+ times over ever year, i understand it can get a little repetitive. Especially if you are being asked about past failures or not having won the big one yet, not sure what the interview was about

Remember this is a job to these guys, they get paid a lot but once you get paid that much you get used to it and it stops being a novelty. Someone who makes 50K a year looks at someone making 200K a year and says "if i made that i'd be happy"...but it's not always true. Many of these guys end up making 200K and aren't happy. It's the same concept.

I can understand press conferences would be very tedious. Many of the questions are generic and boring

I think you missed my point. It was not anything directed at answering tough questions. They could ask him what color the sky is, and his response would most likely be "I'm not sure, but my game feels pretty good and I need to take it one hole at a time." My point was this is why I have a tough time pulling for him.

No matter what these guys say they get blasted in the media and on sites like this. For God sake, Jason Day sneezes and is asked how he feels, he says he has a cold and you'd think he just admitted to being a murderer.

Tiger's burned out, Day a hypochondriac, Scott is boring, Ricky's a poser, Speith is finished, Watson is a freak.....

Good for Dustin - play golf, make a few million, not say a word, and not give a s*** what people think.

"run Forest run !!!!!" they can't all be like Trevino in front of a mic. ....ehh whatever. love to watch him play though.

I'm a SC native and pull for him still...but much less than before. Yeah he is about making that money...but that seems about it. Embracing life in general and seeing the cup half full is something he seems to be disinterested in. Did anyone catch Faldo comment in the last few weeks when showing him just once in his career they would catch him walking with a little swagger?

Anyone picking this guy to win with that putter is crazy...remember last year?!

I'd have thought being as dumb as a post would help you close out a major - not over complicating things, thinking too much, 2nd guessing, doubting yourself. But DJ unfortunately hasn't benefited from this.

Regardless of him being not so bright - I love his golf swing and love watching him on the course. I do think he will get the major some day - not at Oakmont though.

Butch Harmon, his instructor, at a conference said "Justin couldn't spell "OX" if you spotted him the "O."

The way he described Justin was as a cool, laidback "Dude, I had an eagle to win the Open. No way I was going to..." and I can't remember the last part but it dealt with going for it. He said Justin has no fear and nothing really phases him.

If you want to see Harmon unhinged, go to youtube and search Butch Harmon Met PGA Conference 2016.

A bag of hammers makes more 10 footers than DJ.

Many of his issues come from mediocre putting. How is that tied to intelligence?

Mickelson can easily have a few more majors. Is he "dumb"? According to most people on here, Phil is smarter than most. Rory has struggled with putting. Is he stupid? Speith dumped two in the water at the Masters and lost. Is that lack of intelligence?

Maybe, just maybe, golf is a very difficult sport and hitting poor shots, or missing key putts is part of the game.

A decade of hard drugs can take its' toll on anyone. Ten years from now, if he stays clean, these 'spaced out' sound bytes from him won't be happening anymore. Sobriety is a tremendous lifestyle change. Golf is DJ's livelihood, but it's not his top priority.

Same here, I don't even watch the rounds.

When it comes to sports, be it Marshawn Lynch or DJ, I like guys who are good at their job and I doubt care about their interview skills.
