Current line-up is awesome, yes, most of you have no idea!

Add to the major's won total with Wilson Staff.

Will Tiger play again, I sure hope so, but even if he doesn't the clubs will sell.

Yes, this sounds insane, but how many of you thought Nike clubs would be gone?

They should sign Tiger and Rory and other pros to huge contracts, and do a quick product cycle model with a lot of discounting, than change their name to NikeMadeAdams. It's can't miss

It would be great to see sign one or two bigger players because I agree...their latest stuff is really good.

The FG Tour 100 blades might be the nicest "looking" blades ever made.

The DuoSpin and Tour ball are great.

Two suggestions to Wilson though:

1. 2 years ago I was in the market for irons...and really wanted the Wilson FG Tour V4. I had it narrowed down to those and the Bridgestone J40's. Ultimately the head to toe distance on the Wilson was noticeably smaller, much more to a tour players liking than a 10 HCP guy and I had to go with the Bridgestones. They need a set of irons that is truly made for the "better player". Right now, to me, they only offer Tour Player and Game Improvement.

2. The Game Improvement irons need to be less gimicky. LOTS of plastic. WAY to much goofy colors.

Sign a bigger player and keep putting out good products.

FG tour M3 and F5. those are the iron sets you are looking for.

It's STAFF...

Friggin STAFF!!!

NOT Wilson!!!

STAFF's irons were in the bags of SIXTY-ONE Major Winners, NOT Wilson

STAFF has THE Most storried History Tradition & Heritage of ANY iron mamufacturer in the game.

NOT Wilson!!!

THIS is part of the problem-

A HUGE Part....

It would be like Cadillac forgetting their History Tradition and Heritage and going under the Chevy badge.

Wilson is a Sporting goods company

STAFF is a Legend.....

These idiots are just like the others from 1997 on-

They chose to bury and forget a History Tradition and Heritage that no amount of money can buy-

It has to be EARNED!!

Wilson didn't earn s***

STAFF did!!!

SIXTY-ONE TIMES!!!

If it's money, Staff loses. If you base it around being a part of a Legendary Staff roster and being part of a rebirth, and you show a montage of those legends through the decades, up to and including Paddy, ya just might have a shot-

Seriously....

Have a great weekend Gals & Gents :)

I had to shelve my 8802 this year due to incompetence on my part. Would love to see TW put one on his bag. Just cuz.

It was in the bag the last six months of '12, my last in the game.

Have a nice weekend Bro :)

I am afraid that they (Amer) still care more about this one:

The Wilson brand can also stand on its own in all other sports, and Wilson Staff is just a niche product. But I am happy that I can get it easily around here. And to be honest, never before have I enjoyed practice so much as now, that I can go out and hit either my FG62s or my FG Tour V2s. It is just because I absolutely want to go out and hit balls with either of those sets as often as I can.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Does Wilson have big enough pockets? Are they willing to pay Tiger $10 mil + a year for a 10 club contract?

Richard is so funny because while he Played Mizuno blades for over 25 years(He Played Staff his first 19 in the game), he never ever got/gets emotional over Mizuno if someone speaks negatively of them or their irons. He has always said that "a blade's a blade" and while he preferred Mizuno, he never experienced "butta" and felt that there were 6-8 blades out there that were every bit the blade that Mizuno was/is and as I've Played blades my whole career, I tend to agree.

However, when he put the Staffs back in the bag, it was weird because I noticed a cockiness and almost a swagger, that he didn't have when the 68's were in the bag. I asked him and he laughed it off but I know him very very well and he developed an attitude that I had not seen in our 11 years together as a BB team. I really think that alot of it was the fact that Pete was a Staff lifer from the time that he left the tour for the club jobs.

We were walking to the green after Richard had stuck a 190-192yd 59 5i to about 8-10' and he looked to me and said "Pete's smilin. A Staff inside the circle," lol. We were taught to visualze the green as a dart board with the pin being the bullseye and the board circumference being 15'. Yes, I believe that Pete was smiling and Richard is definitely a closet Staff fan boi, hahaha. Have a nice weekend guys :) Maddie

Ive said it before here years ago, if Nike Golf was a stand alone company, they would have been out of business in 2002...They didn't sell clubs, no body seems to understand this. A 2-3% market share over the course of 17 years is nothing, its actually embarrassing and poor judgement.

BTW the 2-3% was probably some Nike yahoos who would buy anything with swoosh on it, thinking they were cool

Wilson is doing quite well, producing at a certain level that supports the sales. They are not everywhere...purposely. Over the past 10 years or so the have shunk to a level that fits the production rate and dealer support. They are in control of their distribution, they don't need Tiger

Looking at Amer Sports financials for 2015, their ball sports (they do not separate golf) is growing and significant, but it is 1/3 the size of their outdoors sports in sales, as well as cash flow. In fact, they fall to mention golf within the details (other than that it exists), whether a positive note (like tennis) or negative (wouldn't expect them to do so anyways as shareholders do not handle negative that well). From my understanding, as long as golf remains a positive asset, no matter how small, they will keep it as part of their heritage and marketing. So no big boys going to Wilson Staff, however, for the new up and coming I suspect there will be more exciting options for branding.

Amer sports has built a nice stable of brands, quite diversified.

Arc’teryx High end outdoor apparel

Salomon High end outdoor footwear, apparel

Wilson Tennis, golf & balls

Suunto High end watches and compasses

Percor Excercise equipement

Mavic Bicycle componants

and the list goes on.

If I were to guess Wilson does more in tennis/racquette sports than Golf....and I bet golf does more than Nike ever did in clubs

Come to think of it, Amer have already taken Salomon off Adidas' hands and made it profitable again with their way of doing things.

How about TM?

Salomon was a conflict with Adidas strategy of adidas outdoor group which was in europe and has recently come to the states 3 or 4 years ago. Many of the brain trust of salomon who were innovator in their own right, stayed with Adidas. When it was sold to amer Sports. Including Vincent benoit who has brought innovation after innovation with TM for over 30 years- he came from salomon back in 80s. He one of those most brilliant men I have spoken to.

It's actually 62 times. Hence the WS FG-62.

Hi SF :) Nope, it's actually 61 and those 62 irons were to set the bar for Staff's next major. Even heavily medicated, and though he couldn't tell you what he had for dinner two nights ago, Richard knows Staff, haha. Actually the 59's that Richard has in the bag(pictured above) were intrduced to comemmorate the 59 Majors won. Have a nice weekend :) Maddie

Don't you mean hosel to toe distance? Isn't the toe part of the head?

He probably did mean hosel/heel to toe length. Ironically that is why Richard and the guys that chose the 59's over the 62's or even Richard's Mizuno 68's were because of the shorter heel-toe length and the smaller dimensions, which were similar to the iron that the 59 was patterned after, the 1976-80 Tour Blade. The thing is that the V4's are definitely a Player's CB(this was the most bagged current Staff iron prior to the present releases) and if one is looking for more forgiveness or a larger footprint, they are not the iron for them. I couldn't agree more regarding the plastic on the C & D series. Excellent irons though I think that that plastic cheapens the look. :) Maddie

Sorry for being blunt, but the management now lacks the wisdom, and the organization lacks the knowhow, to "step up." It's just a shadow of what it was 25 years ago.

You are much more diplomatic than Richard in his comments regarding their senior executives and their performances since the mid 90's, lol. Pete was worse than Richard. He would call them at corporate and tell them that his brother was "spinning in his grave." He too was medicated at the time, lol :) Maddie

2-3% isn't great but what do you think the market share of Bridgestone, Srixion/Cleveland, Wilson Staff are like? Heck I am not even sure Mizuno/Cobra would have 2-3% sales. Now some do much better overseas but when you have 10+ manufactors, there are going to be some that are sub 5%. Obviously what 2-3% means all comes down to your expectations. I am sure nike was looking for 10%+. PXG or Hogan would die for 3%. I assume Nike had some plan where over time the number would ramp up (i.e. all those kids who grew up playing at nike camps and events consider them a legit brand. The 60 year old still thinks of them as some upstart and goes back to playing their pings) but that never seemed to happen.

Personally I would hate to have to try and break into any established field like the golf business that is very tradition bound. The fight for market share is just too brutal.
