here is some encouragement for a bucket hat and lots of sunscreen....

Amen to that, brother. A friend of mine also had a melanoma removed from his cheek earlier this year. He is only 45. Scared me into wearing an Under Armour bucket hat when I play. He now wears a Titleist bucket. Tried the Titleist, but found the UA to do a better job absorbing the sweat without overly staining.

I prefer a baseball cap but wear bucket hats, I e been down the cancer road once, don't need to encourage that b**** again. I do not like floppy buckets, I prefer Tilleys. I wish titleist would take the squared off top crown on their short brimmed bucket and add that to the round top wide brim

My paranoia led me to buckets too. Luckily my buddy agreed and has similar concerns so now we both rock the buckets. I don't like them particularly, but they are a lot cooler than having to have pieces of my head removed. I also wear the solar sleeves on days with strong sun or later tee times. Again, not a fan, but want nothing to do with any form of cancer.

I highly recommend this one, best bucket type hat I have worn in the heat. Imperial coolcore Old Norse to name a few.

I second that. Great hat for many reasons. Breath ability, brim edging has great structure and stays even to name a few.

Most sporting goods stores have them, though, you may need to look at the hiking, and/or fishing departments. REI would be another choice. The selection at golf stores tend to be a bit more limited.

Highly recommend these...Colombia Silver Ridge Bucket II. Machine washable. I live in Las Vegas and wear them most of the year. Doesn't really absorb sweat but is very lightweight but well made.

I have a really big head (7-3/4) and most hats have X/XL as their largest size. XL in most cases is 7-5/8 which doesn't sound like much of a difference but a tight hat is really uncomfortable. The only bucket hat I can find in XXL is this one; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GZYBYI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does anyone know of other XXL bucket hats? Has anyone had any luck stretching hats to fit?

Just picked two of these up today at Golfsmith. The bill is longer in the back, kind of like a Darth Vader hat for golf. Works and feels great!! Under Armour Storm, SPF 30.

Funny, just bought the exact same one. I played one round with it on Monday and the quick negative to it is that it doesn't really breathe particularly well. That makes sense of course though, as it is intended to keep rain out. Easily remedied by taking it off for a few mins to let my head breathe. I really like it though and will be using it again today in Myrtle.

I just got the Outdoor Research Transit hat. It looks a lot like an army boogie hat, but with more ventilation on the sides. I also got a Henschel Breezer, which is a bit more classy (and cheeper than a Tilley).

Anyone every try the Nike Golf UV bucket hat?

Just wondering if the front of the hat flips upwards when walking into a brisk wind.

I think I've mentioned before in another thread, but in the serious sunshine I'll wear a wide brim straw had or cowboy hat or the like. You cant swing in them, so when your on the tee or the fairway you have to slip it off and hang it on your bag but they work a treat.

Might get involved with one of these this year:

this! I have two similar hats I also bought off amazon. I keep one in my bag for when it gets a little sunny for my baseball-style cap.

I'm big on covering up in the sun and i'll often wear a dri-fit style long sleeve compression shirt under my polo, a shemag scarf, and pants instead of shorts. It's weird... I usually only wear shorts on the course when the weather is in the high 60's to 70's

The Imperial bucket hats are great for keeping the sun off your ears, and they're for sale in golf shops everywhere or on their website. I keep a few in the stash, and highly recommend them.

Living in AZ I wear buckets in the summer time, spent a couple hours on the practice facilities the last two days and went full sunscreen and bucket hat. The two I have from Ping could use a bit more coverage in the back as my neck got a bit more sun than I liked.

Thinking I will make the leap to the Titleist Aussie hat at some point this summer.
