I don't think that works with all finishes. And to be clear I would like to know if the raw Finnish hides underneath the black one. In Europe we don't get the raw Finnish until February 2017

The RTX and RTX 2.0 black finish was PVD or similar. Mild acid washes don't remove that finish. The new RTX-3 seems to have an even more robust finish based on the following reference from the Cleveland website...

Our most popular wedge finish, the Black Satin is now improved to last significantly longer than past versions and black finishes from select leading competitors.

I think you are screwed relative to an easy to remove finish. Doing so seems silly considering Cleveland now offers the same club in "Tour Raw" finish anyway.

Not for lefties!

In the process of testing Muriatic acid now. After about 2 hrs of soaking then a little scrubbing it appears to be working. Will update.

WiTB is too fluid, so here are some other less fickle facts:

Muriatic Acid seemed to work.

I removed heads from shafts and placed in a plastic bucket completely submerged in Muriatic Acid. I did not dilute the acid at all. I did all 3 heads at one time.

Total soak time was approx 4 hours. Each hour I would (wearing gloves) remove the heads and give a thorough scrubbing with steel wool. Each time I rubbed another significant portion of the black finish would come off. Then replace in the same bucket of acid. I never dumped or changed the acid but I suspect this could speed up the process if you did.

I am not 100% convinced that these are now RAW wedges. It seems to still have some sort of finish on it but I cannot say for sure. Time will tell if they begin to rust. I have not done any research on how this finish is applied so I do not know what exactly is left....all I know is its better than worn out black.

The muriatic acid did not remove any of the paint or course. I am going to use acetone to do this and then refill with color of choice.

I was hesitant to sandblast because I did not want to effect the micro milling on the face. The acid seems to have left it perfectly alone.

Hope this helps someone.

I have a couple pics. If I can figure out how to upload them here I will

What you have is nickle plated now. There is a layer of nickel that goes on before chrome or PVD, or etc.

To get a real raw wedge, you'll need to have a metal shop remove it.
