    7 iron, mizuno mp-25 with px 5.5's

It'll go more 155 160ish if I go at it, but it is my 150 club.

I got to say, I've spent the last month trying to 'fix' my swing because I though going 150 with a 7 iron was really bad. Reading the rest of wrx, that's the distance everyone was hitting at 10 years of age. After reading this thread I feel better.

It's just weird that I out-drive all but one of the people I play with, and by quite a bit, but they all (ever single one) hits their irons *much* further even though most of them aren't any good. Their 150 club is a pw-8, most of them a 9.

Depends what I want to do, but it's either a full 9 or a soft and/or knocked down 8.

I've lost a LOT of distance over the years. Granted I'm not very old (35), but with arm, elbow, and shoulder issues...I've had to focus more on just taking it easy. At 150 yards using Top Flite Gamers...I'm between a Ping G5 6 iron and a Callaway XR16 7 wood. I've been leaning more towards the 7 wood, as I have been consistently leaving it short from ~150 with my 6 iron.

I don't think the Gamers are great distance wise, but I've been hitting a LOT more greens with them than anything else, so I'll just stick with them for now.

I just moved from a 25-yo set of Ping Eye 2 BeCu (original groove design) and 7-iron was my 150.

Now a smooth 8-iron or hard 9 will get me there with my new Ping Gs (which were fit to me with 1* strong lofts), and have a ton more bite on the greens. My old 100 yard club was a PW -- now it is the UW (gap wedge).

    I love technology!!

We talk in meters over here. So 150y is about 135m (plus a bit).

That's my 7 iron (tending to 6 iron). TM R11's.

My 7 I use from 125 - 135 and my 6 from 135-145 ish. Then factor in breeze, uphill or down, amount of roll, how I'm hitting etc.

Is your new 8 more accurate than your old 7? Maybe so, much of golf is in between the ears:) I'm guessing they have the same loft. As well as your old PW and your new UW. Same loft...

Not sure what you are asking. Everybody hits a different club for 150. Depends if you swing all out with a 9, a nice swing with an 8 or a knockdown with a 7. So for me you have to establish that on your own. Dont worry about what others use or what others tell you to use. The best club is the one that knocks it closest to the hole and if you dont like lag putts, you better hit it closer than you are.

If you are going to do this, be sure to post the model of club and/or loft, too. There are too many differences between brands and models.

Taylormade has a demo day scheduled for tomorrow, forecast is for showers off and on throughout the day (Seattle, you've heard of us) only 6 covered mat spots. Their "modern" PW, my 1 degree loft weak AP2 8 iron, my 67 MacGregor VIPs 6 iron, year I started playing golf.

With me it is a 6 iron at sea level of course I am 60 years old hitting a 1980 Macgregor blade iron.

In the case of the OP IMHO not too bad considering how long he has been playing
Thanks Big Stu - I was starting to feel lonely having to hit a 6 iron from 150 yards. Here in the Chicago area with the wind and the cold sometimes I need a 5 iron to be honest. At 63+ being a senior player I'm ok with that.

The lofts are stronger than my last set but I don't know exactly what they are

For me it's a 9 iron. It goes between 155-160 so I just take a little bit off of it usually.

8i, typically. Irons are .5" longer, so it plays more like a 7i.

I'm also 30, about 6ft. I get similar numbers been playing for 20 years or so.

With my Cleveland 588 CB Precision forged set, I use my 7 or 8 iron depending on wind/elevation. I typically carry the 7 about 155 on an average swing.

With my Mizuno JPX 850 forged I just use my 9 iron. I'll use a subtle 8iron if I'm tired, or really pin-seeking.

In high-school when I was at my peak, I could hit a Tommy Armor 845 PW or 9 Iron 150 yards.
