Best laser rangefinder with Red OLED

Is the Leupold GX-3i2 the best rangefinder with Red OLED or is there another model I should be considering.

There are only 5 units on the market that I can think of that have red display. Bushnell Z6, Tour X, Pro X7, Leupold gx 3i2 or 4i2. 3 of these have slope features. If you don't want that then there is no reason to pay extra money. That narrows it down to the gx3i2 and z6. I think the gx3i2 beats the z6.

I have had a Leupold for a number of years. In addition to great rangefinders, they have great customer service.

Leupold, no doubt. Bushnell has awful customer service. Leupold has incredible customer service.

Sorry, but have to respectfully disagree on the Bushnell customer service. They regularly on are golfwrx and I posted a story about how my new V4 wasn't locking on to pins. One of their reps actually PM'd me and asked me to contact him directly. He sent a brand new rangefinder no questions asked. He even offered the exchange to be for any rangefinder I wanted. Their customer service is top shelf.

As it relates to the Leu vs Bush, you can't go wrong either way. Bushnell was having problems with the V4 but the new X2 has fixed all that in kick butt package. Additionally the new X2 can go "slope" with just a switch as opposed to V4 changing the faceplate. Leupold is traditionally a rifle scope company so their rangefinders are the Ferrari's of the game. The only thing about Leu that I don't like is the top of the line model is so **** expensive and beautiful I've always been scared of scratching it or dropping it.

You can't go wrong with either one. Both are fantastic.

Bushnell X2 can not only easily move between Slope/Non-Slope with the flip of a switch...it also can show Black or Red LED. It is a dynamite piece of gear!

After having a non-RED display, I'd take any brand with it.

When looking for a rangefinder I wanted one with a red led as I previously had the 3i2 and loved it but I wanted one with slope. After checking the X2 and the Leupold gx-5i3, I found that the 5i3 had a brighter red display so I went with that one.

Sorry for an off topic question, but what’s the difference between whether the led is black or red? Is it just cosmetic?

    Thanks

On the Tour X, the Black has a LCD screen, the red has LED screen. I think it's the same for the Pro X2. The V4 has the LCD screen since you can't switch to red.

I've heard people say the LED is better, but I don't know that for sure.

As far as I know, the only real difference is the red is more visible. The black can blend a bit when it's overcast or dark outside. It's not terrible, but I found that I much preferred the highly visible bright red. I never have problems seeing it, even in the brightest conditions. I thought I read that the red might drain a little more battery, but if I have to change the batter once per year, I'll be fine.

I just upgraded to the Leupold GX-5i3 from the GX-2i. The black display was tough against a dark background - fall golf with gray skies for example, the red display jumps off the screen, black was tough to see. I'm sure the electronics are better with the more expensive unit - getting distances very quickly in poor lighting compared to having to hunt around and read darker display.

I tried my partner's Bushnell X-2 - very fast, great display also. Either unit is a great choice.

X2 is the best rangefinder out there right now. Small size, switch between slope/no slope and red/black led. Black is better for bluebird days. So fast! Best purchase of 2017 for me.

I find the red on the X2 to be hard to see at times and seems to wash out, so I always use the black.

Any new models with the red display?

My Bushnell is having problems out of the blue, so I think I'm going to switch to Nikon or Leupold. I'm tempted to try the old model, GX-4i2 or even the GX-3i2.

Leupold by far and away has the easiest red display to read. I used mine for the last 3 years and it is incredibly easy to read. I just recently decided to add one with slope and tried the Nikon 80i VR but realized how much I missed the red numbers. I wound up with a Garmin z80, but it would have been another Leupold had I not decided to get that one.

I have a Leupold with red display.

But, that red display has burned out in less than 3 years. I baby it too. Leupold does not offer a lifetime warranty on electronics as they do their scopes.

They are offering 60% off a new finder. But I’m hesitant. I’ve read they display going out is not all that uncommon.

OP, this is the one you're looking for. The z6 has a red led, waterproof and is very fast. I've been using mine for 3ish years now and still have yet to change the battery. Never had any issues with it except on really foggy mornings.
