Golf Oahu

I am in Oahu this coming week any current or updated recommendations on where to play. I am a 6.8 capper relatively long hitter but lose strokes on the short game some days.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Was here most recently 2 years ago. Have played Ko Olina more than once Koolau was pretty soggy when I was here two years ago so if it is in better shape I might give it a go again.

Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations.

Played both tracks at TurtleBay a few weeks ago pretty solid they had the Turtle Bay Open the weekend we left so they should both be in solid shape still. By far your best bet for golf and decent replay rate if you want to get in 36. Fazio doesn't hold a candle to Palmer but it's still a fun track to play especially if the wind is howling

Koolau is a mud pit i wouldn't waste your money. Royal Hawaiian could be a decent option if they haven't got too much rain in the last couple weeks.

If you want drier conditions Ewa Beach or Koolina will be your best bests.

I agree Oahu not the best for golf. I ended up skipping my option for a 3rd round when we were there. Didn't want to pay 200+ for Koolina. Koolau and royal hawaiian got too much rain when we were there and weren't worth it.

A local guy I played with at Turtle Bay the first week of October invited me to play at Pearl CC (public course) saying that they had very good greens.

I wasn't able to play another round, but thought I'd share the info.

Looks like Pearl CC might be more reasonably priced than Ko Olina or Ewa beach, but maybe not as good of a course overall?

I dont think navy/marine is open to the public unless you have a sponsor to get a tee time, its a great track though and convenient. Kapolei is pricey but in great shape, Prince, Pearl, and Hawaii Kai are reasonably priced. Pali, Royal hawaiian, and Ko olau are really soggy now because of all of this rain.

I agree, to get a tee time you will definitely need a sponsor, but civilians are welcomed, they will, however, pay a bit more...but you are correct my friend, thanks for the correction...aloha

Played Ko'Olina and Kapolei last weekend. Both are in fantastic shape. I enjoyed Ko'Olina much more however, Even with a wet course, play was faster and the course was overall taken better care of. I wish I could have gotten another round in. Turtle Bay wasn't an option because we were limited on time and needed to stay close to our resort: Aulani.

I am heading to Aulani this summer and will in the same boat in terms of wanting to squeeze in a round but with limited time to travel in order play. I was considering Ko'Olina due to proximity to the resort. Glad to hear it was in good shape and enjoyable.

Have fun at Aulani, those lagoons/Koolina area is awesome. Make sure to grab an Acai bowl from the Island Vintage coffee from across the street as Aulani.

As for the golf, I would recommend Ewa Beach over Koolina if you are on that side of the island. Ko'olina just a plain old resort course that you will forget about, but you will get a free cup with a ladybug on it :)

Just curious why you like Ewa Beach over Kolina.... I was looking at going to Makaha, but, since it's closed... makes it kind of tough...

Going January... playing twice... Hopefully making my father in law pay, so price is not a big consideration.

Thanks!

Even better right now Kapolei greens are rolling really fast and in excellent condition!
