Just finished a pretty involved putter restore and I am happy with it. After doing several in the last couple months I am taking some time away cause the torching, stamping, sanding, polishing, and paintfill have wore me out. Here's the latest unique specimen, and obviously not to most people's taste, but a one-of-a-kind mod, nonetheless...

It's pretty addicting once you start, and I have a one year old girl, so time is better spent elsewhere, but I do take the time for these when I can manage it. Torching is a trade which requires ultimate cleanliness and patience with the flame, and carbon putters are far easier in achieving a rich, colorful finish than stainless heads. Flaming nickel plated finishes is even quite a bit easier too, as I've done several pro plat. Scotty's. Stamping is a skill too, but made much easier when using a two-layer-thick duct tape approach; it makes re-seating the stamp in the exact same spot much easier for the initial strikes and allows you to put a small impression for placing the letter before you ever start to make sure its located correctly. Good luck, and I recommend giving it a few tries, but after 3 or 4, you'll likely be looking for a bit of a break.
