Looking for some help- getting on Ballyneal, Dismal River and Sand Hills

Good morning Everyone-

I'm looking at a trip out to the Sand Hills region this summer. Can anyone help me out on figuring out who I need to write to at each of these respective clubs? Please feel free to PM me if you have the contact info for any of these places.

Have your club pro call their pro.

Call and/or write a letter to each club. You should have success at one or two places, prob not all three.

Pretty sure you can get on Dismal River through Boxgroove.

Dismal won't be tough. Sandhills is another story, your best bet is to write a hand written letter to the Sandhills asking if they can arrange a sponsorship. Sandhills is a unique situation, they have 10 groups a day on the course, small membership, do not want your money and only let you play once in your LIFE unaccompanied.

I was able to play it and it took nearly 18 months to arrange the tee time. Hopefully the letter will work quickly or a person here on WRX will be helpful

I wrote a letter as well. Make sure to give multiple dates to play. Also provide your email and telephone number in your letter. I actually screwed up and didn't include Ballyneal in my trip which was a mistake. Sandhills and Dismal River courses are a trip to remember

I won a charity round at Dismal River and will try and hit up SH through a pro.

Tried the letter route back in February and haven't heard back, thus probably not a yes for this year. Try again next year as going to DR and then got on Ballyneal.

did they give you the dates you asked for or was it a back and fourth "we can squeeze you in on XXX"?

I was able to locate a member without help from the club but that member was continually told the desired dates were booked, so it ended up going into the next year. The initial date requested by the member was June 2014 and we ended up playing Aug 2015.

i guess contact with the member facilitates things. one day!

SH is not an easy one. you basically get one guest round there for your entire life. i think you can play once a year with a member, but as an unaccompanied guest, a member still has to get you on, and you better enjoy it because that's it.

Just got the regrets email from a sand hills representative unfortunately. But will try again next year. Sent letter end of February and just got it today FYI for others.
