TaylorMade 200 Steel

Recommended Posts

I have played these for some time and have nothing to say but great things. They seem to be the fw metal of choice for most tour players and most of the guys (that know their stuff) around here. That was in 2003 and 2004. I still have them and believe they are right on the top with only a few nipping at thier toes.

Great looking heads, both the rifge topped and the smooth topped. Square face.

I will have some comparison Pics up soon!

I love how solid they feel, I just have never been able to control them. They are great fairway woods.

200 tour is one of the all time best IMHO. I had a 15 iwth a pro 95 x that was nice and heavy with a face cranked open that I never should have sold. It was the best hands down.

It got knocked out by a tour launcher 13 pro 95 x but I still should not have sold it. As I said in another thread, my problem with 3 woods is I pretty much like them all.

I have a tour Launcher and 200 Steel Smoothie, both in 15* with 757. For me, the 200 is more versatile. Forgiving and good from all sorts of lies. Launcher is a beast, however, just not as versatile off the deck.

These were very nice, I'm curious as to why they were so much more popular than the 300 tours...they came out at the same time, I thought they felt pretty close to the 200's

I've got the 3 wood and 4 wood with standard graphite Lite S-90 shaft. Great feel when I hit them, but I'm looking to replace them with some newer TM Rescues.

Maybe they're "too good" for me to get all the benefit from them, maybe the stock shaft needs to be upgraded. I've never had luck with the TM stock shafts.

I've had smoothies and ridgies and they are great FW's.

Very solid, the sound was a little muted but good distance, slightly open face.

Smoothie launches higher and was real easy to control flight left or right, high or low.

The ridge top was shallower but had a lower ballflight. I tried these set up with Pro 80,Sapphires and HM4. Very good results with the heavier shafts.

I have both the 13 and 17 degree, with a Graphite Design Purple Ice Stiff in them. I must say that I have hit these the best, compared to the V-steel, R7 wood, Big bertha, and Cleveland's launcher.

I have the ones with the ridge on top. The solid feel at impact, is to die for, and with my 13 degree, sometimes it competes with my R7 TP 9.5 driver, and I am not that short of a hitter, I can carry it about 265-270 on a good shot.

These fairway woods, are still played by tour professionals, and will stay in my bag for a while.

I have a 15° and 18° ridgetop (retail),and after reshafting the 15 ° with a Prolite 35 and the 18° with a YS-7 ,all R-Flex,I am hitting them better than any other wood I used in the past. :drinks:

I am getting a 22° wood soon .Would the experts on this forum advise me to put in a 80g shaft ?i.e a tad heavier than the YS-7, or go with the same shaft?

I'm a guest on a friends computer and therefore don't know all the rules of Golfwrx. If my question is out of line, please disregard. My question(s) is; what condition is your 200 Steel 4 wood and do you want to sell it? If the condition is right and your interested in selling, please notify me of the protocol I need to follow to make it happen. If a transaction is against the rules, please disregard my inquiry and accept my apology.

Has to be one of the easist fairway woods to hit, very responsive and great feeling. I cant say enough how much i loved hitting this club, it was my go to club if i needed a important drive or to go after that Par 5 in two. This club made me confident.

After a couple years of struglling with about 15 different fairway woods, I decided to pull out my 200 steels again and wow. The absolute easiest to hit woods I've ever tried. Not quite as long as the current offerings, but maybe I will start experimenting with some shafts. I just hate to because they are so reliable and and I can depend on them, so we will see.

Is my number 2 fairway wood to the titleist 980f. Won't say that one is better than the other, but the other suits my a little bit more. This club gets a little more distance but I just prefer the look of the 980F which is a tad deeper than the 200 which is pretty shallow. I may reshaft it and give it a go again if I slump. I'll never let it go. Was recently in golf digest as one of the older clubs with technology that is still relevant today. Not sure if any tour pros still play this but nonetheless, still a great club. Definitely a keeper.

The fwys have Taylormade Royal Precision Rifle steel shafts. Both the irons and fwys are EXCELLENT condition considering their age. The fwys came with those new Lamkin Classics and the irons have the original grips in like new condition. All the shaft labels are in excellent condition too. I actually feel like I stole them because what I traded in to Play It Again Sports was actually junk that had no value to me nor did I have a dime in it.

Nice score. I got a 3wood for a couple bucks the other day off the Bay. In good condition as well only it has steel shaft and it's a 15* so I don't know if I will keep it. Pretty sure I will though,. ,

The kids have borrowed (like I will get it back) my 3 wood so I dived into my bag of old clubs and found my old 200 Steel 3 Wood. It sits nicely behind the ball that it just breeds confidence and the hit is so pure. Makes me wonder why I ever dropped it from my bag in the first place. Might go out and try my old 975J driver to see how that goes. I might start going retro

Just picked up a 13* ridge top with a NV 75x, I am in love. This is what a fairway wood should look and feel like. No wonder i can't find a modern club that i like anymore, they stopped making the good stuff years ago.
