Nippon modus 3 120 tour v.s C-taper

I might have been one of the very few that has not hit the Nippon modus 3 120's. I currently play the C-taper 130 x and have a new set with the Nippon's coming. Just read how good these shafts are reviewed and pulled the trigger. Stupid, I know. I just want to know if anyone else has switched and what results they have seen. I'm excited, but I still have my old sticks.

The c taper will launch lower and spin less.

The nippons are def smoother feeling however launch a touch higher (not much) but def spin a lil more

^^^^THIS^^^^, of course, it all depends on our each individual swing, but I found that to be true...I play C-Tapers 130x as well...

I felt like the C-Taper 130xs were great when you pured it but real harsh with mishits. Modus, how can you go wrong? They're so smooth and have tight dispersion. You might consider going TX in the 120s if you like a tighter feel though.

Played c-taper 120 stiff in the past, currently have a 9i&6i in the 120s modus to demo. IMO felt like they were 2 totally different shafts. C-tapers spun less with very tight dispersion, lower ball flight and the 120s modus were harder to control much higher ball flight and fighting the lefts. I am currently trying the modus 120x ss1x, 130s and 105s.

I don't play either, I play C-Taper lite x & fell in love the very 1st day I got them, after 5 months or so I got a deal on some Modus 120 x & grabbed them, fitted one in my 8 iron for a few weeks to try.

Yes, they feel awesome smooth but that was the only thing I found better than the Lites, my dispersion got worse & my distance too.

Thinking, "Nuh" I must be too impatient, I opted to fit the entire set into my irons & give it some time, after 5 games & some range time I felt that my game definitely suffered a little, I then went back to my lites.

With no range time between the swap, my 1st game was 5 strokes better than the Nippon's & back to my point & shoot style of play, I found the Nippon shaft just drawing more than I liked & 8-10y shorter than the lites.

I've played them all except PX & I've never been more consistent than with these C-Taper lites.

Just did the same thing...

What was your final decision? Are you still playing the Modus 3 120's or have you changed? My initial testing likes the Nippon's...much different flight coming from the C-Tapers.

Am I reading this correctly ? You play C-Taper 130 X and you're going to try Modus 120 S ?

• Why did you go to a X-Stiff to a Stiff ?
  
• The weight difference is pretty substantial ( 130 grams VS 114 grams )
  
• The Modus 120 S profile is Soft Butt section , Medium Mid and Stiff Tip....
  
• The Modus 120 S plays a bit soft

Might be an old thread, but you're not wrong. Hahaha. Modus 120 and C-Taper are completely different animals. Hard to imagine both shafts working well for the same player.
