I was referring to the tour van/issue hybrids.

The tour van issued will vary depending on what the pro wanted. You might find some square some that have been bent open a little and some quite a bit. The retail version are square.

I just talked to Adams about this yesterday. I have a 24* Idea Pro (retail) with a S300 SL shaft. Its my 4 iron option. I do seem to hook it a bit and was looking into buying a real "tour issue" 24*.

I checked some posts and listings on "the other site" to see what they had..considering they sell a lot of Adams "tour issued" stuff. I also emailed one of guys and asked about the club which they had for $299.00. I was told there is an internal weighting difference that provides a fade bias and lower ball flight.

Wanting to be sure I was not overpaying I checked all the BST on both sites and I checked ebay. I found one (on ebay) for sale (less money) that was a tour van issue. Looked identical to the ones for sale on the "other site". I called Adams to check out the internal weighting set up for fade bias and lower trajectory before purchasing. I was told by two different individuals that the Retail Pro Hybrids are the EXACT SAME as the "tour van prototypes". The only difference is they don't have the loft designation on the bottom and some may have a different color scheme but the internal weighting is the same.

The reason the "tour van issued" protos seem to have a lower ball flight and faded bias is because they have been bent FLATTER in terms of lie angle. Thus producing a fade bias. They told me to send my club in and they would bend it for me for a small fee. The club would no longer hook a bit and the trajectory would flatten out a tiny bit. They told me to save my money.

Lots of bull$hit out there.. Gotta be careful

Not sure on the weighting thing actually. I have a tour van 22* and it came with a 4g weight because the head is heavier than the retail. I have 3 retail heads that all have the 7g and the swing weight is exactly the same in all 4 clubs. I seem to remember other members with the tour van version having similar experiences with the overall (not the bias but the actual) weight of the head. I know you got the info right from Adams, but I'm sitting here with this club and it's different. I think Mr. Divots had the same thing if my memory is correct.

Thanks for the reply, mizuno#1. I guess I could have the tour issue heads bent more upright, which would eliminate the fade and bring up the launch slightly. Or I could try and find a low spin, draw biased hybrid, if such a thing exists. Thanks again.

If you bend clubs upright and your swing path is flat you are going to have a hard time making good contact. I would just put some lead tape on the heal or like you said find a draw biased hybrid.

There is NO difference between the retail and tour, except for the loft designation on the sole. NONE.

I have plenty of the tour and retail in the Idea Pro and they play and feel exactly alike. The only (ONLY) reason I have any of the Tours was that I got them new with all of the specs measured before buying.

The difference in the weights I experienced was the design of the actual weight itself in some of these clubs. Being the head is designed to accept the larger/heavier 12 gram weights, anything less than that is smaller in size and they use a plastic/rubber "washer" to take up the space due to the smaller size of the weight.

I received a couple Tour Idea Pros and the 7 gram weights were well below the surface of the sole of the club, -where as my retails the weights were flush. I took out the weights on the retail, and the 7 grams had a different design to the weight, with the "riser" built in. It is an all metal weight. The Tour heads had the 7 gram weights installed without the plastic/rubber washer, so they sat in the head deeper. I asked my clubfitter about it, and he said he doesn't put the riser in just so that there is less chance of the weight coming loose. That was all.

There are some "Tour" heads that are different, like the "Peanut." But those can be had through proper clubfitting channels if you ask around. No need to buy for ridiculous prices from the clown and pony show down the dial.

Glad to hear the proper info being shared here. Don't get taken to the cleaners by you know who....

I pretty much agree with what has been posted here in this thread except that there are three loft offerings in the tour issued version of the head (22°, 24°, 27°) that are not offered in the retail offernings of 16°, 18°, 20°, 23°, and 26°.

The tour offerings I have seen tend to come with the lighter weights (typically 2 grams), but they tend to be shafted with heavier shafts then the retail 80g Aldila VS Proto. I cannot say if the tour heads are any heavier than the retail heads.
