Directed Force Putter Help Needed

Gamble Gamble

Recommended Posts

The DF putter is outstanding, however due to my location in the country I need to do an online fitting. I typically play the ball off the logo on my shirt and hit slightly up on it. I was thinking of not getting the press grip and going with a super stroke then asking them to set the loft 3* less to make up for not having the press grip.

Does this make sense? Has anyone done this yet?

Talk to Schnee, he has a super stroke on his DF and it sounds like he really likes it! I'm hoping to roll a few with it since we're on the TM trip together right now....

Have a great time there. If they are paying for your shaft upgrades... get a Tour Ad in everything... even your putter... jk

The DF only has 2* of loft to begin with. Not sure you can go much lower and get the ball to roll.

This is the kinda logic that I don't get. It's like I'm gonna buy a Porsche but I think I'll get different tires. They don't work as well as the factory tires, but I'm gonna change them because they were good on my Chevy.

Get the grip that the putter was designed with. Otherwise it just becomes another putter.

That's a inaccurate analogy. Let me offer a better one.

This is like the guy who wants to buy the Porsche and is exceptional at a manual gearbox not wanting an automatic transmission because it doesn't fit his driving style. He doesn't need the help with shifting, he just wants better overall car. There is a reason Porsche has multiple options and upgrades.

I don't need the press grip, I think it is ineffectual for where I play the ball from. I do love the DF weighting and lie balance which keeps my start line much more consistent.

They make a big deal out of the fact that the club's tech still works with any grip.

I thought that I would love the grip, but after a few rounds, it's not really working for me and I'll probably change it. I use a forward press to start my stroke and with my hands already in the forward position, I'm having trouble not hooding the putter. Not interested in changing my stroke if I can just change a grip.

I could be wrong but I think it has 5* and the press grip delofts it to 2*

A sales rep from Directed Force told me the putter has 1.5* of loft; this was a reply to a direct question when I was ordering a putter.

Ok cool but if you brought the shaft vertical instead of pressed forward the loft would increase.

Either way it doesn't matter I'm going to go with the Porche with the manufacturers preferred automatic tramission for now.

I think the rep was talking about the static loft of the putter head when soled. That doesn't change.

Directed force Putters have 1.5* of loft. Don't get confused with static and dynamic. The head is made with 1.5 degrees. The newer heads may go to 2*

Never going to try as they are no where to be found in my area. The only way I'd try is via trade. Just not worth the risk for something sight unseen (in person).

I have a DF putter and gave the Press Grip a try when I got it. I'm all for new ways of thinking and thought the idea was good. I think it is a great grip. But I didn't like it. I didn't like the forward press and it just didn't feel good in my hands.

I settled on the Garsen G-pro max Grip and I love it. I've used this grip on my Edel putter and I love it. Way better than the Superstroke I think. But I think the putter regardless of the loft and because of the Lie Angle Balance technology rolls the ball better than any other putter that I've owned. The ball hugs ground and it goes on the line intended.

My point- It doesn't matter what grip you have on it, the tech still works. Go with what you are comfortable with, but don't be afraid to try something new either.

Thanks guys, I got fitted and ordered mine. 73* and 34" and I don't think I've ever been this excited about a putter.

Update: I got the putter and it is money once you get used to the press grip. My first in season rounds will be this weekend so,I will keep the interesting stats.

I put a flat cat on mine works great.

Which size flat cat did you go with? Any size comparisons with superstroke?

Newer heads?

Bill told me that it was 2 degrees of actual loft ( sole plate to face); face to shaft is 3.5 degrees; shaft is leaned forward 1.5 degrees; face to grip is 0.5 degrees. It doesn't make sense to me - that would mean that the shaft is leaning back 5.5 degrees, grip takes 3 off it, making 2.5 degrees.

Do you mean that if you put a normal grip on it, you can just set the shaft vertical and it is the same position as the press grip?
