2017 PGA Championship - Players allowed to wear shorts?

Yes for practice rounds, I think its the right decision.

Here's the story from the PGA of America's website. Big thing for everyone to remember that the PGA of America and the PGA Tour are NOT the same. Being a PGA member I'm all for it and hope it applies down to the section level.

Why not specify practice rounds in thread title?

I think its inevitable, the European Tour has allowed it for a full season now.

Pros don't wear plus fours and ties anymore. Evolution happens.

I know this is the Godwin's law of GolfWRX, but would Tiger have dominated if you replaced his baggy tent trousers with his skinny calves poking out of some black shorts?

I think Pros just look better in trousers - and if it's that hot, isn't it better for one's skin to cover up with a modern technical fabric?

Agree 100%. When it's July-August it's ridiculous having to wear long pants when temps are mid 90's and up. I can understand tradition and all, but give the players the option at least during those few hot weeks.

I guess it's good to give them a choice but I bet you still see a fair number of guys still wearing long pants even on hot days. I also would bet that you'll see virtually no one from Central or South America wearing shorts.

The game is evolving...fine with me.

Part of the evolution of the game...at the very least here should be exceptions made for the summer months.
