Players reactions to their shots

It is certainly a test for the golfer, bearing the result of a seriously executed golf shot with indifference. You stand over the ball in deep koncentration, you perform, and in golf, the results of the performance seems to vary more than elsewhere. That is no less obvious in the professional golfer than the amateur. And it is, at least for me, and I know that I am not alone, quite interesting to see how the tour pro's behaves. And it is not the case that the reactions are perceived the same by all spectators.

Who do you like and who do you not like, in that regard?

On my plus-list, there are guys who DO react but not in a way that is offensive towards others or meltdowns(even if I do admit to sometimes peek at youtube clips like "10 worst meltdowns..")

Spieth, his commentating of his own shots is to me just amusing.

Marcel Siem, nowadays since the "scheisses" seem to have disappeared. He will fist pump if he drains a long one, and clearly show his angusih in times of trouble.

Suzanne Pettersen is balancing on the edge, even nowadays, but no one can fist pump like she does.

Brandt Snedeker. Seems to a kind of cordial relation to his own shots.

Jason Day, seeing him walking along the green with his eyes fixed on his long putt rolling towards the hole is a pure feast for the eye.

Cantlay, Well I have not seen much of him yet, but that fighting face was something else. We'll see.

Woody Austin. It WAS kind of cool to bend the shaft of his club the way he did.

Rory, the way he tries to bend the ball in the air with his lower lip.

Sören Kjeldsen, my favourite. Always exceptionally cordial to other players and spectators, but the anguish on his face is more obvious on him when the ball goes astray than on any other pro. Without loosing the temper.

On my minus-list

Tiger - Even when at his best. Just too much. Even though there are some moments when his reaction did provide some icing on the experience.

Stenson - Iceman with no ice at times of trouble. His attitude in interviews and so do not match his temper on the course. And seem to kind of get down on himself. OK he won the Open but otherwise he has got waay more second places than victories over the last years. And that is not only due to mechanical parts of his game.

Justin T - Well, he might have learned now.

Bubba - Behaving bad towards caddies is a no-no. And he behaves kind of funny. OK, the guy is no Oprah, but there are introvert guys that reacts in ways I like. Cantlay was a feast for the eye.

DJ - Does he feel anything, when playing golf?

Goosen - The same question but even more. Strangely, Retief seems very cordial and affable outside the course.

Inbee Park - The queen of the stone faces.

Westwood - Just cannot keep that tounge in his mouth.

In the old days, the reactions tended to be more negative than now, but TV and social media kind of tempers the worst cases, seemingly.

Suzanne Pettersen has the best fist pump in golf?

....seriously?

It's a solid fist pump. She's obviously been working on her fundamentals. She doesn't do these ridiculous hunched over, quazi motto fist pumps like so many of the kids these days (See Rory McIlroy). However, like most things in the year 2000, Tiger Woods had the best fist pump.

Former professional golfer. Current amateur human being.

Maybe now, but if we're talking longer term then Tiger is unquestionably the GOAT.

Tiger completely revolutionised the fist pump which, prior to April 1997, was seriously in the doldrums. Many commentators at the time were even speculating that the fist pump might be dead.

Big cat changed all that. Hell, he even got people who wouldn't normally be into fist pumping, into fist pumping.

The guys on tour now who like to fist pump with abandon have got a lot to thank him for.

There was a serious f-bomb last night but I do not rembember who dropped it. Not nice, anyhow. The only F-bomb I did have some respect for was the Kevin Chappell one. And the Henrik one on 16 on Troon. The Scandinavian languages equivalent of the F-bomb is an F-bomb as well. But with a religious rather than sexual content.

It sometimes IS hard to not let them out, on some occasions , but I do try my hardest not to. And the Tour players should definitely avoid them. Tiger was not the best in this regard.

I love the suspense of a close up of the player's face, you know, the one where you can clearly see the scraggly beard or morning shadow, and even a pimple or two, and the guessing game that ensues- take quick bets with the lads whether it's close or not- then the broadcast promptly cuts away without showing where the ball ended up.

Shoot me.

Justin Thomas annoys me. He always looks like a 3 year old who's mommy took away his popsicle.

A sugar free popsicle? The ones Tiger has in his freezer?

Chesson Hadley- not a fan of the 'snap'. Looks like something Shooter McGavin would do.

When Phil fist pumps it's the same thing a 9 year old does when he begs his mom for McDonald's and she says yes
