Tyrrell Hatton, Missed Short Putts/Spike Marks

Is anyone else annoyed with Hatton's dramatic reactions to missing short putts and proceeding to pound "spike marks" into the ground acting like a teenage girl with her iPhone taken away?

I get it, these guy play a sport at a competitive level that I'll never achieve or fully understand, but once you start collecting a paycheck for a sport and the cameras are on every shot, it becomes an Entertainment Sport.

Not to mention he was on The Morning Drive stating that he thinks the proposed rule change is good but he "hopes players don't abuse that". I hope he does abuses it and stops crying everytime he misses a putt.

Is it just me? Are there any other "playas" guilty of such drama?

Do you think he has a better chance if he goes to the next hole thinking "my stroke has been great all day just need some luck" or "I've missed everything today because my stroke is rubbish"? Not saying it's a great look, but I can understand why he chooses to act in that way. A bit like how Jack used to say he never 3 putted the last green in a tournament, when he did so on multiple times

I saw a stat that he was #2 putter on the tour strokes gained, whatever thats worth. Maybe it is the spike marks.

What's to stop a player from tapping down his entire putt's line every time?

Great point. As I understand it, they allowed tapping of spike marks on a trial basis a while ago. A certain well loved Spaniard with the initials S.B. basically created a trough for his ball to roll in.

I'm not really a fan of that proposed rule change, personally

Hey I picked him last in my Golf pool and he's been making me some money! That said even when watching the European Tour all the announcers were saying that if he's going to get to the next level he has to sort out his temper. He had a big smile when he birdied the last at Bay Hill to end up tied 4th so it could be just his way to deal with the anxiety and tension because he's been on a good stretch of golf stateside.

I've just read the proposed rule change on repairing damage to greens.I think we might see some interesting interpretations if it is adopted.

As for Hatton they say he has improved his demeanour since last year which is just as well as after he missed that putt to let CH III get back to level the Sky commentators where wondering whether it would be the ball, the putter or himself going into the water. It was the ball.

I'd rather watch Keegan Bradley's pre-shot routine on loop than watch Hatton play golf. Terrible attitude.

Unfortunately it seems that a lot of younger players seem to play with the handicap of having a massive chip on their shoulder. Hatton, Thomas, Spieth, Matsuyama, Reed, Willett, just to name a few.

They could learn a thing or two from watching how Tommy Fleetwood carries himself on the course. Now that is a guy who is a credit to the game.

To be fair to Hatton he did himself accept that he was a Drama Queen.

I don't personally mind it at the moment, it's a little funny to watch as he works himself into a rage. I'd rather watch a player who gets emotional rather than someone like Langer or Goosen where you never know if they are -5 or +5.

I agree. I might just start laughing at him instead of getting annoyed. Just kills me that he's playing the best golf of his life and whining about.

Men should tomahawk thier club before resorting to pouting. Pouting might saving him some fines, but not his man card.
