Unpopular opinion....Kuchar style putting is cheating

Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, many others im sure and now the guy who looks for every edge in the book Bryson Dechambeau. Goes from putting like a 10 handicap with the side saddle to putting lights out in Puerto Rico with the arm brace. Hes got it braced up his entire arm. Ive tested it out numerous times to see I have an almost belly cleveland classic and its a joke how much it feels like cheating. Your arm is so locked in. How this is legal, yet the broom stick isn't is beyond me. Only a matter of time before more and more people switch. Golf needs its rules straighten out.

Why should it be illegal though? It's not like there's a competitive advantage with it. If there was, why don't we see arm lock putters winning every week?

Imo its only a matter of time. Guys are loyal to what they know and rarely will they change what got them on the tour. Its a huge advantage and it doesnt take a physics major like bryson to know that

I use to use the arm lock method and it was chore from putts of 25 plus feet. Sure it was 'like' cheating from 5 feet and in but you still have read greens and get a good aim and have good stroke regardless.

Thats funny I was on the putting green using it from 25 feet making em back to back to back effortlessly. Your arm is locked to the face of the putter its automatic. Green reading and good stroke will always be required. But the advantage is there. You dont think Bryson knows what hes doing? Hes knows the game to a science

You lack even a basic understanding of rule you're complaining about, then you call a legal piece of equipment illegal and I need to try again?

Not an advantage. For someone to switch to that method means they already have mental issues with putting and are just looking for something to bring them back to average.

Clearly you never heard of Matt Kuchar and clearly you didnt see Bryson Dechambeau make everything this week

Over the long run, switching to that method takes a bigger hit to their mental psyche than any good week putting can make up for. They're subconsciously reminding themselves they're bad at putting every time they step on the green.

His arm is not fixed as his arm is in motion.

His putter is locked in to his arm it takes the feel and skill required out of it. Its a serious advantage try it out for yourself.

Golf is always evolving. People are constantly trying to figure out ways to make the game easier to play.

We have clubs which offer more forgiveness, and hot-faced drivers. We have balls with lower spin rates and extra feel for the short game. So what if a guy wants to stabilize his mechanics by using his arm?

Listen fixed motion not fixed motion means nothing to me. Im just pointing out that bracing the putter on your arm throughout the entire stroke is a huge advantage. If you dispute that then you don't play golf or understand putting take your pick

Personally I think it ruins the essence of what putting is all about. It's all feel. Change everything else but putting should be the way it has been played for hundreds of years. Its half the game and its a huge advantage.

Until the USGA and R&A say it is against the rules, it is ok. I think hitting out of a divot should be illegal, but the rules makers have a different opinion.

Thats what im saying. They keep the purity and tradition of the game alive with a rule like that yet they allow an arm locking technique for half the game. Someones sleeping on the job
