Help me build a driving iron

Looking to have a driving iron built and thought this could be fun conversation. Forgive me if this is already a hot topic, did not see this specifically listed. I know someone is asking about a shaft, but this is from the ground up. Would be great for performance off of the tee and from the fairway.

A little information on me:

• driver swing speed 110 mph
  
• moderate tempo
  
• tend to get a little steep on my angle of attack
  
• really comfortable hitting long irons
  
• not comfortable hitting hybrids
  
• play mp 15's with dg s400 amt, just reshafted which made these irons come alive for me. love the feel and performance.
  

I know absolutely nothing about club building. Hoping some fitters, lurkers, tinkers can add some good info.

You're gonna get a ton of sifferent answers here but after wxperienting with graphit shafts, I just hit them beat with a c taper like the rest of my set. Just pick a head you like, I'm playing a u65 srixon, admittedly not the longest setup for a driving iron but blends with my set of 945s and I can bomb it off a tee.

This is interesting for me too as I was just getting the same idea in my head. I don't know what you have in mind but I'm still trying to decide whether I'd go for a lower launch lower spin with a higher lifted head or a higher launching and spinnier shaft with a lower lifted head. This is more of an excuse to exercise my new found love for club building than an actual need for a driving iron as I get along with my Hybrid but what is manlier than striping a self made 2 iron?

Shaft - stick with S400 if you don't have any trouble hitting long irons, no reason to mess with your tempo by going light/graphite here unless you are trying to squeeze a few more yards.

You can't really go wrong with any of the driving irons listed above. Just hit a few or buy one cheap used <$150 - cheap experiment. I play the 18 degree U45 and it is a weapon. I don't bag a hybrid or fairway wood any more, no need to.

Grab an older Fly Hi. I liked the MP Fly Hi with the cut muscle in the cavity. I would just put an AMT in it and buy a head that is a little stronger than you want and bend it weaker. That'll increase the bounce a little bit.

Just purchased an mp h5 2 iron last week. Think I will take your advice and put the amt s400 shaft in it to match the irons. Took it to the range and it is really easy to launch. Could not pass it up for $100 and the thing is in mint condition. Plus I have the h5 4 iron which just made a ton of sense to me to match irons as much as possible.

I went from a X100 in my T-MB 3 iron to a RIP Tour 115 and have been absolutely crushing it. It is still just as accurate as before but probably 15 yards longer on the carry. I'm like you in that I like 130g steel shafts in my irons and hit long irons well. I don't find the 115g version of this shaft to feel light or whippy at all. It's worth looking into, IMO.
