Who wins the Masters 2017 and why

I'm picking Rory Mcilroy.

He hasn't put it all together yet but seems to be putter better now than the last year or so. He can get hot but it will more important for him to turn in 4 solid rounds. its his time!!!

I'm not sure Rory ever wins at Augusta. His third round last year pretty much summed up his relationship with the course.

TW because he deserves a break after hitting the pin / getting hosed on the drop a few years ago.

Spieth has to be right up there again. He has such a great history with the course and was one chunk away from back to back jackets. Before he laid the sod over that shot at 12 he was looking at a dominant victory. He just seems to be able to play that course well.

He played like garbage. Terrible course management. He looked completely lost.

im going to go a head and sound like an idiot here, so they say at augusta a player is better to hit it right to left off the tee, and left to right on approach shots, preferably. I think the cut driver DJ has going right now is not going to help him out there!

Fair point on the left to right tee shots.

He did finish tied 4th last year and tied 6th in 2015 though.

I agree. Currently he is playing a game even his fellow professionals are not familiar with.

And, for all the hits DJ takes on his lack of intelligence, I think he is one of the smartest golfers on Tour. He has a sort of divine nonchalance about him. He perambulates down the fairway seemingly without a care in the world. Bad breaks roll of this back and he simply keeps on going. That kind of "Buddha" mind, or whatever you want to call it, is like having an extra club or two in your bag.

Leishman should be a good value pick. Hoping Snedeker gets it done

Had a discussion with someone at work about this earlier today. As a huge DJ fan my fear is that he's just too obvious of a pick.

Not only is he the hottest player on the planet, but he comes in having finally gotten a major, his putting is drastically improved, and his life in general just seems like it's in a great spot.

Some other big names all seem to have strikes against them heading into the Masters. Spieth hasn't been great and it will be interesting to see how he deals with returning to his collapse, Day is dealing with his mom and didn't look great anyway so far this year, Rory hasn't played well there and seems to be inconsistent so far to start the year.... In other words it seems like every star is aligned for a DJ win.

Just seems that inevitably the opposite will happen.

When it comes to this course, Rory and DJ are the exact same golfer. Great drivers of the ball, streaky putters. I don't see how you can say DJ can't win but Rory can.

It seems the hot guy going in doesn't have the best record. Or maybe it's just my fuzzy memory....

Hard to bet against DJ however.

I feel Bill Haas has the game for that course.

So, I'll say Spieth just because I'd like to see him put last year to bed. ( Except if he did win everyone would say he should have 3 in a row. )
