Am I the only fan that is surprised this majestic pine has not been replaced?

The whole look of the hole is not the same

For a course that is so strong on tradition and history there must be some reason for it to have not happened

I used to, hole #4. Then in 2008 we got what we all hoped for when a Tornado came through and took out most of the trees on 2, 3,4, 6, and 7.

the Eisenhower tree was obsurdly punitive for right handed golfers not named Kenny Perry.

It would take another tree 50+ years to get that big, and there is certainly no way to transplant a tree that size.

Pebble replaced a monster right of 18 green not long ago

Well, no one has ever been able to replace Ike either, so there is that. What are you going to do, put up a tree 100 yards in front of the tee and call it a Condy tree?

Im lobbying the good lord and our club member comittee to cut one down on our 18 tee now.... ive even flown some big beavers in and turned them loose..... lol that damn thing forces me to slice the ball ..you cannot hit even a straight ball much less a draw from the back tees.... and most members dont care because their tee balls go under neath it .. mine.. directly into its left side branches every time...

I had a tree that was called "MGB's Tree" for several years on our 9th because no matter what I did, I managed to hit that thing or end up directly behind it completely blocked to hit a shot to the green. Thankfully others, have taken a liking to my tree and it to them so it no longer remembers me and we now get along.

You found out that beaver dont stay where you put them eh? They hardly ever stay where you want them.

The only people penalized by that tree (in the latter years) were short hitters. Most guys now could carry it.
