Membership recommendations in Tampa

SR13

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster. I will be relocating to Tampa in about a month or so, specifically the Citrus Park area. I'm looking to join a private or semi-private golf club. I love the game but am not the greatest golfer in the world (low 80s on a good day which can be few and far between) but my main motivation for a membership is to practice a lot more than I currently do. So I am looking for a membership at a course with decent practice facilities included. I'd like a place I can go to the range after work during the week and then play a round or 2 on the weekends. I would prefer to keep it on the cheaper side if possible (2k or less per year preferably) until I improve my game. Is there any place around for that price range in the area? I am 25 if that matters for any discounts offered. Thank you.

TPC is basically a public course that offers membership for i think 2k annually. For this you get preferred tee times, i think you only pay $30 a round (great when its $100+ in winter) and unlimited practice, maybe a locker. They have tournaments and so forth, some decent players and good guys hang around there. It does get crowded weekends as it is a public course. Great range, putting green and chipping areas. In 2k range it might be an option, not sure what else is in that range honestly.

This is spot on.

Thank you, I'll look into it. Anyone have any reviews of the Eagles Golf Club or Fox Hollow? They have cheaper memberships based on what I can find on their websites.

Fox Hollow is the place, in my opinion. I was a member for 6-8 years. Call Brian in the Pro Shop. It's a great deal, decent range. Great people. Nice course. Way better golf course than TPC Tampa, in my opinion.

I really like Fox Hollow but every time I have played there pace of play was just terrible. I have walked off after 9 on multiple occasions. Might be just bad luck I guess. The range is really good.

To be honest, I have an ADA issue with Fox Hollow. I'm handicapped and have trouble walking and they make minimal allowances for the handicapped despite Federal law to the contrary. So naturally I'm now prejudiced against them. And the pace of play can be horrendous at times, especially on the back nine.

Great course layout but also can be extraordinarily wet if we get rain. 10 has been almost flooded several times.

One of the best players at Fox Hollow, has one leg. He hasn't had much trouble with the course, in his 15 years there.

& one of their largest tournaments of the year, which they Sponsor, is for wounded vets.

Oh ... they also offer discounts (or did when I was a member), to "first responders" and vets.

I'd say they're trying to do their part.
