    around 30 degrees..

Whenever the moisture gets on the ball or on the club, it would freeze. Great times..

    31. It was in college for a dorm sponsored golf tournament. Only 3 of us showed up. I played well and finished in the top 3.

Funny I saw this topic as I am thinking about playing tomorrow. Supposed to be low 30’s.

Mid 20s. Do it all the time if there isn't too much snow. The ball really runs on frozen fwys....

Around freezing, dozens of times, but I won't go any lower since I don't like winter golf. There are a couple of good nine hole courses in Stockholm that stays open with the regular greens all winter but I will not play if the greens are frozen, the unpredictable bounces takes all the fun out of the game.

If its winter greens and/or mats are mandatory on the fairway it's not golf and I'd rather do something else.

Growing up in Illinois we had a tourney every year called The Frozen Open. Played regardless of the weather forecast on January 1st at an 9 hole executive course. Those were some of the craziest rounds of golf I can remember. Played a couple of times with multiple inches of snow on the ground. Well below freezing a few times.

it was completely white with frost and neither of us had a yellow ball, the old pinnacles came out that day!

Thats UK winter for you, it was actually a funny round, couldn't land on the green because it would just bounce over, even just chipping on was quite amusing

Last year it was in the low teens with around 20mph winds. Everything was frozen, balls bounced 20 yards over greens. Some drives were going well over 400 with the wind and frozen fairways. it was stupid... but I would do it in a heart beat if I could again.

I've played in temperatures below freezing more than once. Like Your-away, I've played in the UK in frosty conditions, and it was a bit like playing on hard-pan in a dry summer, except the ball didn't carry anyway near as far.

When I was a junior, I'd play in any weather. I hated the wind more than I hated the cold. Now I'm older and more liable to creaky joints, I am not so desperate to rush out when the temperatures are hovering around freezing.

30 degrees, wet fairways, 20 mph headwind and you havent warmed up, that ball is not carrying very far!

Yesterday in the low 40's with a 20mph north wind and rain. I have no idea what I was thinking. Too many sunny/warm days here to put up with that!

I have played a couple times in temps just above freezing. Can’t say I totally enjoyed it and I wouldn’t do it again.

About 39-40F with minimal wind is as cool as I can really have fun playing golf. Anything much over 40F is fine, usually.

I do not play in rain, FWIW. No thanks. I will play through a brief shower for a hole or two but not in a steady rain no matter what the temperature.
Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

Ended up playing in about 30* F. entirely by accident. It was mid-November a couple of years back, and I decided to test out a good-quality Callaway Hawkeye 3W that I found for $50 (with recent midsize regrip!)

It was about 45* and sunny, and I went out to the course and found the range was closed. So, I knocked up a couple of balls downhill and then back uphill. I joined up with a couple of college players, and we decided to try a few holes

On the par 3 second, I blocked a shot to halfway up the bank from a greenside bunker. I was in my workout shoes because I wasn't figuring on playing. I tried to take a stance bit kept slipping down the muddy hill into the bunker (sometimes you need spikes!).

The sun went cloudy, and the wind got colder and it started snowing. We decided to head in. We had a strooong tail wind on the closing hole, and I hit the 3W about 260 yards (farther than my normal driver shot).

We had ice frozen on our wind shirts by the time we putted out. It was 30* and going lower on the clubhouse wall.

Back a number of years ago when I lived in NJ for a while the group of guys I played with went out a couple of times and played in 9* weather. You can play a game with golf clubs and golf balls in that kind of weather but you can't play golf. I only did it twice. I used a driving range mat rubber tee. Another guy brought an ice pick to get his tee in the ground. Had to wear ski gloves between shots. I hit an approach into one of the largest greens on the course and it hit the front of the green and finished about 30 yards behind it. That was a release of about 60 yards. But the alternative was to just sit inside all day. Glad I got the experience but wouldn't do it again. Plus everyone was wearing balaclavas so we looked like a bunch of bank robbers out there.

High 20's....temps not the issue, but once the greens freeze it's pointless to play, although it is comical to see the ball bound the way it does!

22* in MA. was one of only 2-3 people on the course. Really cold but I had multiple layers on and a buff covering my face. Ball was bouncing crazy that day. The sun was out but it didn't help. Played really fast and still had a little frostbite on my legs. Oh well still a good round. With it only being about 3* right now that 20*day seems warm.

My club used to have an ice tournament. Cut 3 holes in the ice, thankfully they quit that before I played in it. Hardly ever play below 40°. Depends on, sun, wind, snow cover and how long it has been since I played last.
