Mitsubishi Tensei Pro Orange Fowler Pics

TollBros

Recommended Posts

There are the Tensei PRO Orange that Rickie Fowler, among others, has been playing. Description is below, and when they are released they will be $500 msrp shafts. It's the mega tip stiff ultra low spin orange.

These will have the butt stickers as seen in the pics, as well as the Mitsubishi hologram.

TENSEI™ CK Pro Orange expands the TENSEI™ CK Series – which features a multi-material design that incorporates more performance-oriented materials than we’ve ever used in a shaft. This first of it’s kind bend profile for MCA GOLF uses a counter-balanced design along with an extreme tip-stiff design to provided added versatility for the stronger player. The TENSEI™ CK Pro Orange incorporates the same Carbon Fiber/DuPont™ Kevlar® (CK) weave found in the butt-section of all TENSEI CK shafts – providing enhanced stability and maximum feel in this highly versatile design. This series also incorporates High Modulus, premium 40-Ton hybrid prepreg infused with tungsten powder in targeted positions throughout the shaft. A tip-section reinforced with MR70 – Mitsubishi Chemical’s strongest carbon fiber to date, delivers lower torque, and delivers tour preferred control and stability.

I have a whole boat load of data on about 10 of the low spin models. We've just been slammed at work and I've been in and out of the office so much. It's on my short list to post the data. I just need the time to sit for a couple hours to do it. Either this week or next I hope.

I'm not sure what you're asking exactly?

I think he's asking whether his SW would increase or decrease if he swapped his current shaft for this one. Is this shaft counterbalanced?

Since I'm not sure what he is currently playing, it's hard to answer that. Haha. And yes. All the info on the tech and profile are in the first post.

At the same length you would need to add about 5 grams to the head to get the same swingweight.

Would that defeat the purpose of it being counter balanced?

The purpose of counter balancing is not so you're FORCED to have a lighter head feel, but rather that you now have the option of using a longer shaft without having to sacrifice head weight/weight positioning for performance reasons. Shifting the balance point closer to the handle means from a feel standpoint you can load up a head with more weight if for example you really wanted to move the CG forward or have a more significant fade/draw bias setup.

I know a bunch of the pros are using the Tensei Orange. What I'm a bit confused about is why they would use a counter balanced shaft when the majority of them don't play drivers that exceed 45", where getting the swing weight too high is not an issue. Wouldn't they want to play the White instead which isn't counter balanced. Or are they at the same time increasing driver head weight to get a club that has a higher total weight?

Potentially for the higher total weight, yes. The same concept still applies regardless of total length though, its just more pronounced with longer lengths. If any player had a driver @45" that they liked the overall swingweight feel of then they couldn't really do anything with additional weight in the head without having to cut the shaft shorter to maintain a similar feel.

Tiger for example has supposedly been experimenting with a variety of different shaft lengths in his comeback and as a result has likely been experimenting with different head weights as well as weight positions (we've seen that first hand). I wouldn't be surprised if he maybe he found a weight combination in the head that he really liked that he wanted to keep after maybe lengthening his driver. The move from the Pro White to the Matrix was because the Matrix was more "stout" and the Orange is extremely stout as well, at least in the tip and mid sections.

I love shafts with counter-balance for that very reason. I play them slightly short (44.75 driver and 42.5 3-wood), and you have to add weight to get back to D3. My driver head weighs something like 205 or 206. I like the higher total weight, and you also get more mass in the clubhead. Force (applied to the ball) = mass x acceleration

So theoretically if you can add weight to the head and keep your swing speed, then you should have more ball speed. You really have to try this though, not everyone will have the same reaction or even like the feel.

They increase the head weight, which allows for higher ball speeds.

Interesting. What does a 5g addition of headweight do to ball speeds assuming I'm at 165mph?
