The procedure described above for clearing the club path has added 20 yrd to my distance, however my ball flight likes the left side. Additionally laying the club off seems to delay the upper body preventing it from out racing the lower to impact nullifying the left side.

You're on to it ... well played! ?

The DS starts with left hip to third base, shoulders/arms/butt-of-the-club to first base ... lower/upper body separation. Zipper Away Drill starts the lower body CCW while the layoff is the upper body (arms triangle) rotating CW. This upper body action guarantees an inside approach, provides upper left arm/torso separation and creates torque against the lower body. It all culminates with the release of that torque starting at delivery and creates what I call "Hogan's Snap".

Hogan 'does' the zipper drill as part of the backswing. his weight goes deep into the inside right heel and if you have good DTL video you can see his right toes actually rise during backswing. Monte's right toes rise when he does his drill. Put you pointer on Hogan's right butt cheek at address in a DTL video, Watch the right hip turn well past that pointer during the backswing. That's a DEEP backswing!!
