Recommend me a New Orleans Course!

Flying in for a couple days beginning of the week and then hopping on a cruise. Would like to play a local course while I'm here. I'm staying in the french quarter and a quick google search and Audubon Park and Stonebridge are 5 miles away, Anyone have any input on those courses. I have to rent a set unfortunately because i don't want to lug the clubs on the ship. I see TPC New Orleans is local but i don't believe that will be an option. Thanks!

Thanks for all the responses. I'll check out the English Turn, I'm taking out tpc because I'd like to be able to play a course like that with a set clubs I'm used to and enjoy(I know it's the player not the clubs) but there's definitely something to say about lining up over a 7 iron you've never hit before and the look just being different. Plus price is higher, I bet a rental set would be $90 or more. Just not looking to spend $300 on a quick round of golf that I'm squeezing into a vacation.

Playing ping i20 right now, but I'm lefty. I've called a few courses through the area to try to figure out what their rental clubs are. Taylormade m2 seem to be the favorites for rental sets in the area

English Turn looks perfect. I just browsed their site and went to make a time, none available that day (Wednesday may 17). They must have something going on that day. I'm going to call the next chance I get and see if they can squeeze a single in sometime that morning. If I get in I'll look for Shaun and tell him.

I just played English Turn last week. Windy, but fun!

I got a tee time on Golf Now, but it was only available inside of 7 days.

I had a blast, fun course, lots of water, slow greens, but a good track. Get the turtle soup - it was really good!

thanks everyone for all the info, I have called around and English Turn sounded like my choice but they must have an event on Wednesday and there are no available times that morning. Bayou Oaks South(new course) weren't the friendliest and told me they had times available, but the out of town rate is 179.99 and $75 to rent a set of clubs. Now I'm clueless as to the normal rate as all i can do is check Golfnow and can't find the south course listed. Audobon has a $45 tee time with $45 rental set, and i didn't get a rate on the North course since one post said do not play the north. Stonebridge seems on the same price scale as Audobon. Is the South course worth the $260 round? thats only $40 off what TPC is looking like on GolfNow. Thoughts?

TPC is a good course. North is crap.

That said, the South is pristne!

What about Oak Harbor in slidell?

$69 would be a no brainer but I think they would know when I ask for the rental set that I'm not from there.

Still waiting for a 100% go ahead from the boss. I think I'll get a round in. Weather looks ok. Thanks for the offer on the right handed clubs but not sure I'd get off the first tee with either of those 12 sets haha. South course has m2's so those will feel chunky but better than not playing

Oddly, the north course had some Nike vapor pro's lefty to rent

They were all Nike at some point prior to the renovation.

I assume you've already come down. If not, let me know. I'm a member at Metairie and can get you on if you're interested. It's a 1900s style Seth Reynor course. More fun than City Park South. Less fun than English Turn or TPC.

Metairie CC is one of favorite courses. Really enjoy it

jumping on this thread. Going to be in town next week and want to play a round. Looks like English Turn in favored over TPC. Anyone know what the rental set situation is at either course?
