Left hand low... I guess I'm part of the movement

While playing on Friday afternoon I had to take a step back and realize that my putting sucked. I was leaving myself nice putts, getting in the right position after the 2nd shot only to let myself down. I was on the fringe with about 35 feet to the hole and thought, screw it, mine as well try LHL. Now I had experimented with it at home on the green, but never actually did it mid round. I missed the putt, but left myself with a tap in. it was a very nice easy stroke. Next hole, lip out. Next hole 20 ft birdie followed by numerous 5-10ft par putts. It was a nice confident feel. I know that I am showing up late to the LHL party, but it finally feels comfortable and I'm going to stick with it for a bit.

It definitely has its merits. For me I found I hit putts more solidly as it levels out your shoulders. I used it for a long time but recently went back to conventional, interestingly enough. Sometimes I think that the actual method is less important than just switching things up every so often when the putts aren't dropping.

I recently started putting LFH myself and found that my distance control is MUCH better. Good luck with it!

I've been doing left hand low so long I can't even hold a putter regular, it just feels too weird. It's probably been like 12 years.

You may have a few moments that make you want to switch back, but stay the course. It has made a pretty solid impact on my game, and overall confidence on the greens.

the confidence gained by the putts drained is reflected everywhere. I am going to try to stay the course

I used to use LHL back in the day but I bought a new putter and couldn't get used to it so I changed to RHL and just recently, changed a few settings on the putter and went back to LHL and the difference is phenomenal. Just remember to keep that left arm straight and you'll be making putts left and right.

Two years ago I switched to playing left handed. The one thing I didn't change was my putting grip, RHL. My current instructor on our first lesson to work on putting asked me if I always putted like that. At first I wasn't sure what he was talking about. Once he told me with that grip, I confirmed since the switch, yes. He told me don't change it. Even though he doesn't putt cross handed he's a fan. It seems to work for me but I've never putted the other way since switching sides so I couldn't really tell you. I did try to putt LHL when I played from the right side but never felt comfortable with it.

+1 ^^^ My tendency is to not follow thorough as far as I should. I find putting left hand low for 5-10 practice putts, gets the conventional stroke working again.

For me the best part of left hand low is the stretched left arm. For something that should be simple and relaxed, having my upper arm contract and elongate at the same time in a static position (right hand low, bent left arm) is a recipe for future failure.

same. numerous of practice sessions after work and still can't get the feeling right. i'm all over the place with take away and my contact. i can see the putter head move like crazy. i'm not putting bad the traditional way so i don't need the change but just trying it out was uncomfortable.

I started putting LHL with my left hand in more of a claw grip, with the left thumb up against the right hand. I feel like I'm hitting it much more on line, especially on short putts, but still working the speed control on longer ones.

I gave LHL a fair try, but I felt my left hand wasn't coordinated enough to make me feel confident enough. It's really taking off though.

Inbee Park said that she could have eliminated her bad putting habits with LHL grip. Agreed.
