First 9 holes with the vintage hogans

Played my first 9 holes with apex blades and hogan laminate speed slots. All I can say is I'm in love. 3100 yards so fairly short but shot a 41 with double double finish. Took 5 holes to get driver figured out but once I did it was soaring. I poked the 4 wood 278 yards which was massive. The thing I love about the vintage is that my bad swings didn't reach OB or the hazards. I wasn't wasting strokes on lost or unplayable balls. And 3/4 swings from 100 yards with the equalizer is deadly accurate. Can't wait to reshaft them this week to make them even better. Cheers to old school!

Ah the title of the thread brings back memories of Mrs. Pelz in the rumble seat after prom. Those were vintage hogan's.

I forgot I mentioned I duffed the drive barely past the ladies tees. Wooden woods are where it's at. The one drive I did clip on a 370 par 4 I was 80 out. Last week I was 50 out but last week I lost a few off the tee. Today I lost 0!

I am finding that out too. Once you get the woods figured out, the tee shots are just better. Then the second is better and you are much closer. I suspect that there will still be some bad days, but playing the old school clubs helps to recover faster with more of a fun factor, thereby putting more interest back into the game. Cool. Nice round.

What shafts will you be installing?

Geez, I must have been using the wrong clubs. My persimmon driver would not go pass 260 unless with lots of ROLLLLLLLL.

I'll keep looking on the auction block for a 4 wood then. A laminated 4 wood.

I play 1999 Apex Blades, too, with great success and joy.

Only goes to prove: Neither old Marines nor Hogans die, they just rest for a while before being called back to service!
