For Tiger Woods Fans

I've been thinking for quite some about who my favorite player would be once TW's playing days came to an end .

I need a favorite player but admit that I'm torn. Tiger is my man but I never thought I'd face this decision so early in his career. Unfortunately, reality has set in.

There are a lot of good choices from today's players but the more I think about it, I've whittled my choice down to two players: Rickie Fowler and Kevin Kisner. Both seem like really cool dudes with bright futures. If I had to pick today, one of them would become my favorite.

If you're a TW fan and heard that he was re-tiring tomorrow, who would your favorite player be?

I too was a somewhat Tiger fan. Somewhat, meaning he could never be anything to me such as Jack growing up. But as I have matured I realized he didn't have to be Jack, because well, he could always be Tiger. And Tiger he was. He really just grew on me. And now what? Phil has always had a few steps on Tiger I'll admit. And in a way his plight is close to Tigers. Oh sure he shoots a good round if you can call in sick Thursday or Friday. But like Tiger, the inevitable is near. I suppose following through on the advice of some, moving to Oregan, Colorado, or Washington and ending it all with the services of a physician would be best. But I cant help but think what a waste, especially with so much opportunity here in Texas. But the fact is I am too much of a wuss to pull the trigger. So there really is no choice in this matter. I must accept my lot, as bleak as it is, carry on, and pick a replacement. I don't know it all seems so senseless. But choose I must and I will, although I'm torn presently between Luke List and Oliver Peacock.

I'm more and more becoming a Rickie fan. I don't know if I could claim 'fanboy' status just yet but it's pretty much going to happen for me. He seems like a good dude on and off the course and I enjoy watching his game.

Kisner I'm not really drawn to at all. He can flat out play but is still just meh for me.

From across the pond Rory is easily my favorite player but he doesn't seem to play much golf these days so that even more pushes me to Rickie.

Huge Tiger fan as well. I find myself pulling for Jason Day. I like his game a lot. Unfortunately, I fear that back injuries will cut his career short like Tig if he isn't careful. The closing stretch at last year's PGA at Baltusrol convinced me that Day has a little fight in him like TW, even though Walker held him off in the end.

I like the two you mentioned a lot as well. Rickie will have a breakthrough in a major soon, IMO. He's got the game for it, and once he convinces himself that he can close it out on a Sunday afternoon, look out. Seems like a great guy too.

I'd agree that it's a lot more fun to pull for that one guy on Sunday afternoons. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate and enjoy watching all the other talent on tour.

I generally detest rooting specifically for a player - I like good golf and I don't care who it is playing well, in general.

But I gotta admit, I secretly root for Sergio and Rahm. I don't think it has anything to do with their nationality (although there was that fling in Spain that will forever be in my library...and that foreign exchange student from Spain in HS...maybe I do have a soft spot for Spain...but I digress), but I find myself rooting for those guys.

Crap, I loved seve and la nariz too...I'm a closet Spain groupie!

Anyway, those guys - and I root for spieth too due to a personal connection - however tenuous.

It's Phil then Spieth then DJ for me. Kisner fowler then Reed for american. Like to watch stenson if he's on. And as a dark horse I like Tommy fleetwood .

Good post. This is the type of response I was looking for.

I'm embarrassed to say in my way younger years I couldn't stand Seve but now realize how amazingly talented he was and how much of a loss his early passing was.

Yeah, go with Jon Rahm.

Love his game but he's European. Can't pull against "my man" in the Ryder Cup.

Understandable.

Perhaps you should go with a young guy; a guy who essentially is just starting out and has a long career ahead. He should be a guy who is very good and wants to be great. Jordan Spieth is your man.
