Callaway HX 56

are they as good as what i'm hearing??

Curious to know if anyone around here has tried the Callaway HX 56 ball and has formed some impressions on it.

I have been playing the regular HX for some time now (prior to that it was the V1x) and have experimented wih the B330.

I like the HX because it seems to do everything pretty well and, imo, is the best wind ball out there ... which is probably as the top of the list of importance to me. Durability is very poor, much like the B330, worse than the x1x.

What I've really missed from prior generations of balls is soft feel, particularly off the putter. What I'm hearing about the HX 56 (though I'm not sure I trust the sources, though they are many) is the following:

1. pretty much as long as anything out
2. nice predictable trajectory off every club
3. same outstanding wind performance as the HX
4. nice spin control, particularly around the greens
5. noticeably softer feel off the putter than other premium balls
6. fanastic durability, unlike other premium balls

Man, if all this is true, what else is there ... the ball sounds perfect. Where can I get some fast?

Yes, They are that good. The Hogan tour deep is almost as good but not quite as soft, IMHO. G

Try the Nike One Platinum...very good ball. I used to play the ProV1 for tha past few years, but the NOP has knocked it out. Pretty long off the driver, nice soft feel, awesome around the greens and extremely durable.

i did try one and found them very good. They are longer and have a softer feel then the old hx tour.

They are fantastic balls. Only ball that I have tried that is close to the combination of distance, feel and spin is the Nike One Platinum. I think the HX56 is a little longer for me, though.

Has anyone heard a definite release date yet?

I used to play the new 2005 Prov1x and loved it for the distance gains that I've experienced this year, along with the spin and control. I xperimented with a B330 last weekend and my driver distance gains were noticeable whilst the iron play remained the same as the Prov1x - I am now resolved to play the B330, UNLESS someone can chime in to shed some light in the new Cally HX56 ball.....

I have been using the HX 56 for a while now. The biggest thing that I noticed was how much softer it was than the HX Tour. Ya its long, good in the wind, spins good but so did the HX Tour. Either ball is great and I will be curious to see how well the HX 56 sells.

How would you rate the durability of the 56 vs. the original?

A local touring pro gave me a couple sleeve for me to play them last month.

Every single thing they said about this ball is pretty much true but one thing.

For my kind of style swinging the club and my type of wedges, The skin of the ball is not durable enough IMO. I cut them pretty easy, especially w/ my LW. However the cut that i'm talking about is not like hitting a top flite ball, It has a cut but not to the point that shave the skin layer...but enough to make a small bumps/humps.

I do still like them though, they are a very good wind ball and perfect spin rate IMO. At least for my type of swing and club.

I've ordered 6 dozen boxes already to try some more. At this point my 2 best choices of balls is the new pro v1 and this HX tour 56.
