It seems a lot of people would be happier to see hime self-flagellate in the post-round interview after every near miss. Remaining positive after these "failures" is obviously part of Fowler's approach to slaying the giant; he'll break through eventually.

Nice to see Fowler take a positive spin on it. Golf is already hard enough as it is and I can't imagine it being easier at the pro level. The years have shown that you can be hot one moment and go cold the next. I think Rickie's game has improved over the years, and it's only a matter of time for him to get a major under his belt. I was rooting for him and a little disappointed to see him not take it with such a great start. There is always next time and room for improvement.

Didn't read it, no need. Reporters and so called reporters that think RF should have some certain reaction to a loss are idiots and have no idea what he's thinking inside. He probably cried as he left the course. Who cares, I would too. But to disparage him or any athlete that doesn't react to losing like they do in the movies is a real jerk move. The media these days are scum and ONLY care about clicks, period. Most stories are crap and nothing but hit pieces to create shock value. Positive stories are few and far between these days. Rickie will probably win the The Open Championship.

I don't think he's spoiled or soft but he might be content but I don't mean that as a negative. Not everyone is driven to be the best in their field or willing to sacrifice their happiness to pursue career goals. Professional sports are filled with guys who represent the best in their sport but aren't achieving their maximum potential because it's not the top priority in their lives.

It's just a lazy, easy take to say that someone who looks like they are actually having fun and enjoying themselves doesn't "want" it. Everyone handles adversity differently. I think it is poor taste to question one's drive or ambition based on outwardly appearances.

I am great at my given career, I would argue one of the best at what I do. When I fail, I do not nope about or cry...often I laugh. It's just a weird coping mechanism. Phil Mickelson I think is similar and he too was bashed for not caring.

I don't know Mr. Fowler but my guess is that he cares deeply.
