Just heard on radio that Bones and Phil split ways. Anyone else heard?

If true, that's just wow.

Seriously though, wonder if it's related to his double knee replacement surgery.

I can't imagine that caddying for any length of time after such a procedure is an option.

I imagine it is because Bones hasn't fully recovered from his knee surgery. A legend among caddies.

Wouldn't think it is surgery-related as Phil mentioned Bones working for another player in his statement. Will be hard to top this pairing ever.

I was thinking this too but I bet Tiger is taking good care of him. Getting paid while spending time with the fam is tough to beat.

Bones has committed to attend around 200 graduation ceremonies over the next 5 years. That's what I heard. So he's unavailable unless theres weather problems

These guys make a very good wage. He and Fluff did an interview years ago, maybe a Feherty episode or something and they both said they're more than set for life.

Waiting for the inevitable trolling type post from Ferguson that will claim Phil and the PGA Tour did this to detract attention away from the Tiger rehab story.

From what Phil has stated in interviews Bones is one of his best friends and is part of the family. My guess is it's either health related, but who knows maybe they didn't want their work relationship to spoil their personal one?????

If this was about anything it was NOT about money. Bones is well taken care of, and is making big money even without the wins. Even if he did move on there is no guarantee of more wins. This was probably more about their personal lives and or quality of life, and or their friendship.

You'd be surprised how much money Phil still makes, and I'm quite certain that Bones is taken care of.

Phil at just under $90 million career earnings...I'm thinking Bones is fine. Travel and walking on bad knees most likely the reason.

Maybe Phil enjoyed not playing the US Open and is retiring himself?

Not from the sounds of the statement Phil issued. It sounds like Bones will caddy on for somebody.

They were a team, win or lose, and they haven't won in quite some time, so I'm sure the decision was legitimately mutual by both of them.

It's gotta be hard to be a long time caddy / player duo. After a while, how much could Bones really add to the conversation, and how much would Phil even listen at that point. Someone new to see different things, and someone new to hear them, between the two, may be helpful.

I think Mickelson is at a point in his career where if he's going to find one last bit of magic, he needs to switch things up and is looking for the spark. It's the same reason he parted ways with Butch.

Bones must know who he is looping for going forward. Jon Rahm ?
