I say go for the Mizuno's. I had a set of the 23's and loved them. Mizuno makes the best irons out there, even without paying the big bucks to have the names.

Same here. I agree with those two. I have hit the RAC LT and I did like it but to me it's MX 23 is much better club.

I tried out both the LT2's, and the MX-23's last month. I went with the MX-23's, as they performed the best for me.

If you are looking at a few more sets to try out, here are some others to consider:

Ping I5

Callaway X18 Pro - less offset than the X18's.

Titleist 804OS - although I think these are a bit bulky, but they're forged.

Mizuno MP60 - if your a consistent iron striker, you should give these a look. They actually came in second for me (due to me needing more forgiveness).

Cleveland CG4 - the CMM material is fairly soft, so you might want to check these out. They were a little too light for me.

I currently own and play both sets. I personally prefer the LTs, they have less offset, greater workability and a more compact look that becomes especially noticable in the short irons. The MX-23s have a pleasant forged sound at impact, and are easier to hit. Since you are transitioning from Big Berthas, the 23s will induce less culture shock. Down the road a ways, the LTs will give you more shotmaking as your ball striking progresses and your index drops.

I also suggest the MX-23's and would agree with all of the statements above. I've had my 23's for 2+ years and haven't considered another iron. The proof is in the hitting, demo and play as many different sets and shaft combos that you can before purchasing. Just about everything made these days is great quality.

My choice was made after testing, 23's, LT's and G2's. I thought the 23's were a nice "in-between" to the LT's and the G2's which is why I choose them. Medium sized clubhead, medium offset. The stock dynalite shaft was also a good fit for me.

New clubs since then that I like and would have to evaluate if my 23's were to dissappear are the I5's and the 704.cb's.

come on you can't feel a difference! unless your a 10x major winner...........i play the rac lt's 2004 originals and they will never leave my bag! they set up so nicely,sweet top line justa little offset,and they are hella long! i would only trade for some Tm 300 forged lehmansand only that, but you can not go wrong with the lt's. they will be your best investment.... :birthday:

I hit both, and went with the LT ('05's - I don't call them LT2, since that's not their 'official' name). MX-23's were nice, but i was just more comfortable with the look of the LT at address, something about the transition from hosel to the face of the MX-23 looked weird to me. Still, they are a great stick. Pick whichever you hit better. the LT's seemed to be about as no-nonsense as you can get in a modern iron.

Here's another vote for the 2004 LTs. I've played with two sets of Mizuno's, and they do feel nice ---but the 2004 LTs are soooo clean looking throughout the set and feel almost as nice as a forged club. A lot of it is personal preference, but I think the 04 LTs just look much better than the MX23s.

Definitely try the i5's. They are very forgiving, have awesome feel, and their customer service is second to none.

Just my opinion, but they setup much better than the Mizuno's. The LT's are plenty long AND accurate.

I completely agree with this statement, I owned both and went with the LTs, less offset and smaller heads on the scoring clubs. 2004 LTs are hard to beat except of course if you must have forged, the LTs are cast but fairly soft.

Both irons are great choices.

Rac LT '05 - if you want the best combination of forgiving, cast and pretty good shot shaping

The long irons of the Rac LT '05 have a less visible cavity when stading over the iron and looking down. The long irons in Mx-23 shows a bit of the cavity when looking down at the iron from the playing position.

I would say the Mx-23 are a bit more forgiving than the Rac Lt '05 - but we're talking small margins here.
