If you are going to stop anchoring the hands should not touch the shirt. Langer is doing much more than just brushing the shirt.

It was #14 on Friday, I saw live and IMO he anchors and anchors often....his explanation is that he anchors for practice stroke and then pulls the handle away from chest on his actual putt; this is in direct conflict with what is shown on the play back of his putt on #14 on Friday, he in fact does not pull the handle away from his chest. Pretty clear the usga isn't going to do anything about and the wording they used in the new rule including the word intent in the rule, lol, you have to intend to anchor, who cares if you actually did!

I don't believe this report. The USGA is too busy penalizing guys for accidently leaving their toddler's 18-inch 7-iron in their bag to deal with an issue such as this.

I dont think he is anchoring. In the clip referred to his thumb clearly does brush his shirt, however under the wording of the rule that does not constitute anchoring.

I watched him and McCarron putt, and it looks very close to anchoring to me. I am not sure how one is supposed to tell the difference.

From what I saw of the highlights every single player was struggling on very slow greens. Just not sure a bat would help these guys this weekend.

Why can't people with that much talent and ability, learn to putt like normal human beings?

Solution:

Either ban long putters completely or allow anchoring. In between is this s***.

He is struggling on the greens today. Too bad because they would have defiantly been following him on camera id he made a charge.

I watched him do it at The PLAYERS through a 400mm lens that was zoomed in right on him because I was curious.

Baseball actually did the right thing, they removed the grey area by taking away the whole "did it touch his body or just his shirt" question. Hit the shirt, you've hit the guy. Golf made a grey situation even greyer by saying the shirt isn't the guy.
