Eagle on a 578 yard par 5, these guys hit it too far. Wait..... what!!!!

Old Tom Morris laid out the original Prestwick course, the first of many that he was to do. A stone cairn, to the west of the Clubhouse, marks the first tee of that 12-hole course. The old first hole measured 578 yards 1 foot and 9 inches and stretched to what is now the 16th green. In 1870, Young Tom Morris holed out in 3 on his way to his third successive Open victory.

Just watched the Tom Morris movie and I wondered how long those old courses were. I am totally surprised.

There was probably people saying his shepherd crook was too advanced and his stone ball needed to be dialed back to save the integrity of the game back then too.

First confirmed Lanny hater. Everybody else does too, but most won't articulate it. I kind of view him as the neighborhood moron that'll whine about your grass clippings landing on his dandelion choked lawn. I had that at my last place and it almost became a physical (hahahaha!) altercation when my ancient neighbor guy called his slightly less ancient son to come and "deal" with me. There were some angry words when he wouldn't get out of the way of my mower ( :) ). I now live in a community more suited to me. Since I've got the only rider I mow all of the single women's lawn that are anywhere near adjacent to my property. Just to show my diversity, I'd even mow all the men's lawns too if they wanted (they'd get no smile but their dang lawn would be cut). By divine intervention there are a bunch of single ladies. They all love me and don't give a single thought as to where the lawn clippings go. Just tonight I had to inform them that I'd be out of the country for the next couple weeks but they were more than welcome to use my mower. One of them took me up on it. She brought me cookies (who doesn't like cookies?) when she came over and thanked me for mowing her lawn for the last year or so. I'd have mowed the old guys lawn too if he wanted, butt some people are born with an a** for a hat and he must have decided that 100 odd years ago, that that guy was him.

Did I just go off on a tangent? I think I did and I certainly apologize. To the issue at hand, Lanny seems like a "lawn clipping" sort of guy. I'd mow his grass too but I'm sure that nowadays mowing techniques aren't what they were back then and he'd hate the half butted job I'd do. I'd only mow it once if I had to listen to how much better of a job he'd do a million and a half years ago. With scissors! Lol! I've got more use for my hand that's full of wishes than I do for ol Lanny Waaadkins. Rant off and I promise to behave for the rest of the night. If I don't its gotta be the jet lag.
