My wife asked me about that yesterday and asked how easy would it be to do. Do these players really have no idea what their stock settings are? They couldn't tell on the range and just went out and played anyway after warming up with the wrong settings? These guys are so precise how could they not notice?

Seems odd to me.

Right, plus are there no surveillance cameras in the bag rooms?

I was thinking the same thing. I would have noticed it in a heartbeat as to where the lettering on the shaft was etc and the grip alignment. I know the stock setting for me on my 915 is A-2

If it was only changed a degree or something maybe they wouldn't notice, and I doubt many physically check the settings. I certainly dont

I check my driver before I use it to ensure everything is tight. If the golfers know their settings it should be pretty obvious if someone tampered with the settings.

I'd probably have no clue. Until this season I have rarely hit a draw in my life. My newfangled driver can help me do it. With everything now set in full fade configuration. Draws were rare, snap hooks didn't even exist. I don't like this world where snap hooks are real. I'm scoring like a machine (for me) so I can't complain too much but how do you go from a life long fade to a draw with a snap hook awaiting every tee shot? I blame it on losing a bunch of weight, and truthfully this has probably helped the rest of my game immensely, but I didn't even know how to hit a snap hook until this year. After many years of getting the yardage correct from the right side of the course I'm now constantly left. I don't have the yardages from there. Why would I? There was a less than 5% chance that I'd end up left of the fairway prior to this year.

Weird game, this. Every time it goes 10 feet up, 150 yards out, and then takes a sharp left turn I look at the settings on my driver. Even when I'm not playing one that adjusts. Weird.

...and the R&A puts one of the players in golf jail when offenders crack open the bottom of the driver and loose yarn falls out.

That adds a layer to the story when this becomes the subject of a terrible golf movie.

It had no affect on outcome...

Should it be allowed then?

Of course not. Suggesting there may be a placebo effect tho.

It's not placebo. These guys could figure out how to score with a senior flex 16 degree driver.

I turned my 10.5 head down to 8.5 and it was buck fade city. 10 yard draw to 10 fade .. it was easy to tell ... even just by looking down at the face

You would probably be surprised at the number of tour players who don't know their settings.

This is so much more true than most of the golf nerds on WRX want it to be. There have been several times where pros have been asked about what they are playing and they have to get confirmation from somebody else. They go out and test new stuff, find what works with numbers, feel, etc. and then that goes in the bag until something else is found that is liked more. They don't care what it says on the shaft, club, hosel, etc. so long as it does what they want it to do.
