Bridgestone B330 - nice ball !!!

...what about durability?
Started out my round (of 13 holes) with my golf team yesterday playing my Bridgestone e5+ and made a double bogey on the first hole. The next hole has water on it, and of course I didn't want to lose my new e5+, so I pulled out a Bridgestone B330 I found in the woods last week. It had a couple major scuffs on it so it wouldn't matter if it found the bottom of the pond anyway.

Well, after making a double bogey on the first (with the e5+), I ended up at only 4 over after 13 with the B330. I believe I had 2 birdies, a double, 2 bogeys, and 7 pars with the B330. I've never tried this ball because I've always tended to use "softer" golf balls and always thought the B330 would be a bit on the firm side.

Distance was excellent...on par with anything I've tried in the last year. Blasted a drive 321 yards (truthfully) on a par 5 that's slightly (maybe 20 feet from tee to landing area) down hill. Typically hit it around 295 on that hole with my e5+. Didn't notice as big of difference in distance with my irons...maybe 5 yards with a Gap Wedge and 7 or 8 yards with a 7 iron.

Spin was much more than I was expecting. At times I almost looked like I knew what I was doing with my greenside wedges. A hop and then a dead stop into most of the greens. On one or two holes where I had a PW/GW into the green the ball stopped dead in it's tracks. I actually had to force myself to get the B330 to the hole because the ball didn't roll out like with my e5+. But the great thing it that the B330 didn't seem to spin much off the driver. All but one of my drives went straight with the B330 and that one only had about a 10 yard fade to it.

Even though it was scuffed a bit, the ball seemed to roll true on putts (think I had 19 putts on the 12 holes with the B330). Had a very nice click to it when coming off my Mezza Monza putter face.

Durability...here's where I'm hoping you can give me a little feedback. After the 12 holes the ball looked pretty beat up but I'm not really sure how much of that was there when I found the ball and how much I caused with my 588 GM wedges. What is the durability of the B330 like when new?

Thought I'd just pass along my thoughts after 12 holes with the B330.

I love the ball.... I go between the B330 & B300S all season, depending on how i'm playing

the one drawback of the ball is that I tend to scuff the ball an awful lot. I'm guessing its just due to my taylormade wedges and my aggressive swing.

i go through about 3 or 4 a round just cutting them up.

but they work. and i like that i'm not just another Pro V guy.

check what model 330, the 06 scuffed bad and pro shops still had them laying around and selling them in 07. The 06 model had triangles next to the 330 and the newer version has diamonds. Huge improvement over 06.

I played a whole 18 on Saturday with one 2007 B330 and it had little scuffing to speak of. Maybe some slight abrasions from the bunkers, but nothing that lead me to take it out of play. Just a great ball.

I have been playing the B330-S for almost a year now (obvioulsy one of the few consistencies in my bag). prior to that, I played Titleist almost exclusively for more years than I care to remember.

The B330-S performs as well, or better, than the ProV1. The B330-S is less expensive than the ProV1.

As for durability, last Saturday in a tournament, I opened one sleeve of balls, played the first ball for nine holes. I then went to a second ball at the turn, not because of any damage to the first ball, but just to play a new ball.

My own experience is that the B330-S is more durable than the ProV1.

They are both great balls. But at almost $10 a dozen less in this market, the B330-S is the better ball.

check what model 330

The "symbols" surrounding the Tour B330 did not look like those found here: http://www.bridgestonegolf.com/en/product/b330.aspx

The two B330's I have (found one in the woods last week and one in my basement last night) have what looks sort of like the end of an arrow beside the Tour B330. Maybe like < Tour B330 > (but with the arrows sort of colored in).

I would assume that it is last years model.
