The Greenbrier Classic

The flood is gone and the tournament is back for 2017.

I predict Charles Howell III to win after Phil decides to hit driver on the 72nd hole.

If you are picking Davis Love, please specify as both III and IV are in the field this week.

John Daly and Vijay Singh are also visiting from the Senior Tour.

Top 4 not already in the field qualify for the British Open in two weeks.

Very much looking forward to this tournament. Yeah, I know it has one of the weakest fields a stand alone PGA TOUR event can have (174 SOF) but I enjoy these understated events.

Of course Phil Mickelson is making his first PGA TOUR start without "Bones" as his regular caddie; it will be very interesting to observe his level of interest and focus. I'm excited about this chapter in Phil's marvelous career. He has missed the cut in each of his three appearances in this tournament.

The world's #1 amateur, Chile's 18 year old Joaquin Niemann, is in the field this week. He has won four of his last seven starts, with two runner-up finishes and a missed cut at the U.S. Open.

Also teeing it up at the Greenbrier is the #3 ranked amateur, Mississippi star Braden Thornberry. Remember, he tied 4th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic a few weeks ago.

The weather forecast calls for a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms for both Thursday and Friday, but the weekend looks pretty good.

From what I hear from friends who have attended in the past, it has a reputation of being a shìt show.

Strange places though, those Spa like things. A little like religious cults. Do they drink healing waters?

Watching tonight is really confirming the lack of star power on show.

Don't get me wrong, I am still watching it but the Irish is winning this week when it comes to watchability.

Anyone else see the Danny Lee interview on Sky Sports? Zzzzzzzzzzz...

I agree. The coverage of the Irish has been really good, and I like the fact that it's on in the morning. Too bad they lost Rory, though.
