Spieth moves the needle as much as Tiger

I haven't had this much fun on this forum since Tiger was blowing it UP!

I just hope and pray he wins the PGA by holing a bunker shot after spraying an iron in the rough, dropping behind a 7-Eleven and chunking a hybrid into a bunker.

Then telling everyone how WE won.

Damn what a talented athlete.

Then why did you mention "Tiger"?

Very observant weed hopper. One must tag Tiger in your subject heading if you want to move the needle as a poster on the www. I am only trying to manipulate Jordans stature on this forum. As any thread that mentions Tiger and young Jordan in the same context has the potential to break the Matrix.

Can he post a selfie to twitter or instagram in the jet with Rickie and Thomas while all of them slurp drinks out of the Wanamaker?

Speith is 3 in the world....hold your horses.

More likeable than tiger humblewise but not even a shadow of woods in his sub prime let alone his 40 plus % win clip prime....

On Tiger's 24 birthday, he had won 13 times in 70 events as a professional for a 18.5% win rate on the PGA Tour. Spieth has won 11 times in 113 events on the PGA Tour for a 9.7%.

In other words, they both win/won a lot. One could even argue Spieth's win rate is more sustainable long term, as Mr. Woods won so much, he got sick and tired of winning and had to consult Mr. Foley and the Navy SEALS in order to make it stop.

When Tiger stepped on the #1 box everyone knew they were playing for 2nd. Jordan does not have that. Dustin does not have that. Spieth has 3 cuts this year. Tiger rarely even sniffed a missed cut for about 2 decades....

Actually he is up to #2 in the OWGR after his Open win :)

If you are talking in terms of moving the needle on this board, then you aren't a million miles away, I certainly see more threads and discussions about Jordan that you do on his contemporaries but it seems like Tiger sneezing warrants a thread on here, never mind a mention in a thread which has nothing to do with him.

Tiger had 24 missed cuts in his entire career. Jordan already has 20 in his first five years. Jordan is not even good enough to hold Tiger's sweaty jock.

Yeah, he isn't comparing their games so bringing up missed cut statistics is a moot point.

These last few weeks Jordan has been very entertaining/polarizing for Spieth lovers and haters. But he has had stretches where he's disappeared from golf discussion/limelight when others were playing amazing (re: DJ in March/April). There wasn't a time in Tiger's career since he tee'd it up professionally where the golf conversation didn't start or heavily involve him. Jordan has to keep dazzling us in play and controversy to continuously be part of the main golf storyline like Tiger was.

At least you're coming to grips with the fact that Tiger's career is probably over. But, I will say that since 2013, if the conversation about golf did involve Tiger, it usually wasn't about his play. The limelight on Tiger has grown dim.

^ this maybe true for non golf fans.. which im personally good with.. the sport can survive on the current fan base plus off spring.. some of the fat cats may not get as rich and some courses may close but the core that i care about is good...

as for Spieth not moving the needle at all i disagree strongly.. I have a 9 year old boy who is a good player ( relatively) and whom im teaching the game ...history as well as he watches current play... Jordan Spieth is absolutely his favorite player... and its not due to my influence as Phil has been all youve heard in my house for years.. .. I have actually become more of a Spieth Fan because of my boy and the good example i think Spieth shows overall... ( dont want to get into some of the gripes people have here)... But anyway..what im saying is that there is a current crop of 5-18 year olds who are Speith fans 100%.... and they will tell tales of Jordan much like the generation before me tells tales of jack and i tell tales of Tiger...the comparison isnt complete yet.. But its a valid one...

I honestly think Jordan has that potential, but don't think he's there yet. He's streaky, not dominant. The last time he went on a streak, there were threads about that too, then he went quiet. DJ, Rory, JDay all went on their streaks, then they went away. In order for non-golfers to really recognize him, he needs to start winning at a faster clip than he does now. He's popular, no doubt and a wonderful guy, as his parents are wonderful (they did a really good job - My pro has known him since he was 14). He's everything you want, but like many of the other big names out there, they're not singularly focused enough to be dominant in their games. And frankly, there's nothing wrong with that.

Tiger was it. You didn't ask who was leading, you asked how tiger was doing. Changed the popularity of the sport for a generation. Made golf cool (again). Everybody you see winning on tour today grew up pretending to be tiger woods. Hell Patrick reed wears black and red because "the best closer of all time did". You ever try to walk around a golf course when tigers group was coming by? Forget it. Dude changed golf. Jordan's not anywhere close yet.

Eeeewwww. I didn't know that Tiger wore a jock when he played. That's disgusting. I couldn't play in a jock.

What's even scarier is how he knows Tiger wears a jock.

I guess I am on the other side of the spectrum on this..

Love Jordan and his play... Back when Tiger was the man, it was fun to watch for awhile.. then I stopped watching all together because there was no real challenge, if tiger was playing the odds of him winning were so good that I lost interest in watching.. But today with Jordan and the other 8-10 guys are all right in the same wheelhouse and it makes golf fun to watch..

Tiger was great no one can take that away.. but it made me stop watching PGA golf.. Today... I cant wait till Thursday to watch golf...
