This "get that ball out of the hole" debate

I have read the tales of re runs of old opens and the like and I am finding it strange if I'm honest. When watching it on TV I first got the impression Speith was trying to get a heckler removed due to his seemingly agitated and aggressive manner and the pouting and gesticulating.

I will bet the caddie was well p****d off at this order and it's manner (even though they say not) and Spieth came over as an arrogant spoilt brat in the way he behaved.

Things like this just take an apology if they were indeed taken the wrong way. That said, the caddy works for the player, and this one is paid rather well. If it is the guy who was once a school teacher, he is certainly getting better treatment as a caddy then he did in the public schools.

Really ? Not a troll ID at all. Just an opinion. Like I say when I watched it on playback (after spending the day at Birkdale following Fowler) my first reaction was a heckler had been in action and JS was trying to get him ejected. Sorry if that didn't come across to you when you watched it.

They are very close friends and smack talking I'm sure is a requirement. For me I like he showed some moxyfor once he's usually so vanilla. I get he's no Ice Cube tough but it is golf.

• No I didn't think he was 'trying to get a heckler removed' at any time. It was obvious he was reacting to the putt.

I saw nothing wrong with his actions or what he said! it was a simple request to his CADDIE as Speith was pumped and raring to go, it was said with no malice in my view.

I dont know what the OP was watching but Speith/heckler are two words that didnt figure in any commentary or actions I saw.

Are you an American? If not I think your take on it versus most Americans take illustrates the difference in cultures. Some won't agree with what I'm about to say. So be it.

You see similar manners of expression to what Jordan said in team sports in America. You can't trash talk your teammates but players will engage in lighthearted banter to pump each other up. It's a part of American sport culture. In no way was it meant to be disrespectful to the caddy. Watch some of the dug out antics in baseball. They are similar to what the great JS did.
