An amazing ball!!

Softer than the V1x

Longer than ANYTHING else I have tried

Strong trajectory that seems to ignore the wind

A pinch less spin around the greens than the V1x (just perfect for me)

Very accurate on that low spinning wedges into tight pins

Love this ball... 2 thumbs up! :yes: :yes:

I can't really fault the ball. It's high, goes far, spins well and feels fantastic.

I'll be buying the cheaper of this or the B330-S as my gamer for tournaments and medal games.

One strange thing about this ball is that it's got a massive seam... that aside, they're pretty good.

??????? ... they market them as seamless...??????

Can anyone provide a comparison of the Black to the Red? Is the Red supposed to be softer feel but less spin?

Last I knew the blacks were for lower swing speeds but go higher and have pretty good spin.  I play the blacks since I was told my swing speed wasnt high enough(110mph).  The reds are I guess have a more medium trajectory for like tour calibur.  I think its like a prov1/tp black or prov1x/tp red type deal.  I can hit prov1x so after I finish this box of blacks, I'm going to try the reds and see what happens.  Other than that I like them a lot.  I've bought them for the last 3 months.  The ldp feature I think actually makes a difference because I feel I hit it bad but I might lose about 10 yards?  I think they're just as good as the prov's.

I don't know how people like these. Feels like a rock and seems to clank off the face instead of compressing like other good premium balls.

Thanks, Godfather.....I thought I was the only person (according to boards) to feel this way!

I switched between the NOP, TPB, URS, and B330S this past weekend just for fun. The course wasn't busy so I had time to throw balls down on several opportunities.

I will admit that the Black is the longest ball by far (up to 20 yds?) on off-center hits, and when hit on the driver sweetspot, it just goes & goes & goes.

But when hit with a lower club (7 thru W), the thing felt like an old "Rock Flite" ball. Maybe I didn't compress it enough, have baby-soft hands, or just like marshmallows, but the other 3 I hit way out-performed the Black in the feel catagory.

I believe that the $24.99 would be for the 2007 model, not the 2008 LDP balls.

After researching this, including reading interviews with TM people, I have come to the following conclusions about the 2008 TM TP LDP balls based on my experience with the balls mentioned:

Black: more spin, "clickier" feeling, more like ProV1x

Red: less spin, softer feel, more like ProV1

With the Black, I get "stop and drop" results on most clubs into the greens and have even backed up some short irons, something I haven't done with other balls I have played including top of the line Titleists and Callaways. I am not one who plays for a lot of "check" in my short game around the green; my chipping and pitching game utilizes multiple clubs and trajectory for control. I do like the feel of the Red better off the putter.

I had been playing the TP Red and it was great off the irons, but it flew alittle too low off the driver. Today I played the TP Black and it was phenomenal! Much better trajectory ( for me) off the driver, almost exactly same distances on all clubs except maybe a wee bit shorter off the wedges, and great feel on the putter. I also got consistent backspin off my wedges, which was an unexpected bonus. Game, set , match.

The TP Black flies higher and spins more. The TP Red flies lower and spins less. Both about the same distance off the driver, the red being a hair longer.

The compression is lower on the balls made now vs. the old days of 90 & 100. My swing speed isn't much faster than yours (105 on a really good day) and I hit the red pretty far. I've been playing the black lately and it spins way more around the green, flies higher, but is a tad shorter. If you hit the ball high and generate good spin with the shorter clubs, you might try the red as you'll probably gain a club in distance off your irons.

I have got to say that I am a true believer in the TP Black, off the tee it is the longest for me(beats out Prov1x, Tour IX, B-330), and doesn't spin as much as the Prov1x which I love. Great ball and I will be playing this ball for a while, just ordered 12 boxes of the TP Blacks with my own personal #

I have been experimenting with "newer" balls recently, have enjoyed hitting the Srixon Z-star but went back to the Taylormade TP Black and have to say I had forgotten just how great this ball is. If there is a better ball for my game then I haven't found it and I have hit quite a few.

Driver = Callaway Smoke-Ai Max-D

3 wood = Callaway Smoke-Ai Max HL

3 Hybrid = Tour Edge Exotics C722
Irons = 4-PW Miura KM 700
Gap Wedge = Miura HB 50*

Sand Wedge = Taylormade MG2 56*

Putter = LAB DF3

I have been searching for a good all around ball, but refuse to pay 40-45 a dozen. I have tried several and liked the Bridgestone b330S the best but they have gone over the $40 mark retail. I was able to play the older version of the TM TP reds and liked them. I picked up 3 dozen TM TP blacks after reading the GOlf magazine ball test. The numbers looked good. I liked the ball off the driver, and irons. I was able to control distance very good with the ball. The only thing I was a little disapointed with is the spin around the greens. This ball does not check like the ProV1x or the 330S. I am an one that usually spins the ball alot off the irons and wedge. This ball would hit and go a foot or two. Which is good because the Prov's spin too much for me.

OK after playing three or four rounds with this ball it does well from tee to green. Stop good with full iron shots. BUT around the greens this ball just doesn't check for me when chipping. It runs out like a rock ball. Absolutly zero check for me when chipping, which suprised me because I usually spin the heck out of the ball. Going back to the Bridgestone.
