The Gamer has good spin, soft feel and goes the distance. For the $20 price it is a great value.

This ball is amazing!!!!! For its price honestly if your looking for a ball that will enhance your game without making you get a second job this is your ball.

I really wanted to like this ball. I tried it after seeing the good results from the GD hotlist and the Golf Mag ball test. It's so cheap and I enjoy play with 2nd tier balls when my playing partners are all playing premium tour level balls.

All in all it was a reasonably good ball especially for the price and did most things reasonably well.

Specifics, I tested it side by side a NXT tour.

NXT tour flew higher and further for me (Say 7-9 yards further of a 8 iron, fair bit longer for the driver (probably due ot trajectory differences, see below)). I also prefer the feel of the nxt's. They feel "smoother" and heavier if that makes any sense.

Spin wise both balls were similar in terms of their ability to hold the green from the 7 iron (167 yards) to half wedge shots.

In the defence of the gamer, it cost almost half as much as the NXT tours.

There was one thing about the gamer that bugged me. For my woods the ball seemed to drop out of the sky which i don't notice for bridgestone balls or titliest balls i've played. Maybe I don't spin the ball enough off the woods for me to use this ball effectively.

If you balloon balls then this ball may really work a treat. For me the flight was too low off the woods (irons were fine). Be sure to give it a go, it's too cheap a ball not to try out.

Defines "bang for the buck"!

I think it is right up there performance-wise to all the 3-piecers out there. Ignite, Trispeed, NXT Tour, HX Hot, etc...There's no real tangible difference in any of them, now that the companies started softening the covers on the mid-priced balls.

It's feel, and distance of course that we try to measure...which is affected by every person's individual swing characteristics. But the Gamer is right there. It does everything as well as advertized, which makes it spinny for a distance ball. It's actually soft-feeling. The cover is very soft, it shaved a little off with the wedge...not your typical rock-flite! Trajectory is mid-flight, and it is steady in the wind. Not life-changing, but pretty good with the putter too.

If you take price into account, it is phenomenal on all counts!

I played a very windy 18 with it and found yardages were as good as I'd expect from any of these balls. It will go, and it will stop. I fully understand the good reviews it's been getting. Yeah the highest-end balls are good, but for 90%+ of golfers this will do just fine. It's all just a feel thing. Try it. You won't hate (I PROMISE), and you might really like it. INSANELY GOOD FOR THE $. Otherwise, fits right there (equal) with the rest, right behind NXT Tour and Burner TP, for me.

Glad there's a good Top Flite again, in a nostalgic way...a little. Freakin' great for the money!

Top Flite is impressing me lately... I baught D2 feel's from hearing a good review and played them for awhile.(great ball)

I baught a dozen of the gamers... I only wanted a sleeve but the galaxy wouldn't break em up... so I played 18 today and played exceptionally well with them and I hope if keeps up for my tourney saturday.

Distance was good as any... in fact on one par 4 I about drove the green and I was on the back tees... cannot complain in this department.

Spin was fantastic for me.. I was making them stop and come back a few feet which is plenty

The bad side is they have too soft of a cover... I destroyed them with my wedges..

So a great ball that is lacking in durability... I think I like the D2 feel is a tad better.

I was impressed by that ball. Impossible to get more for the $$$$. Take the logo off and 95% of golfers would happy to play it.

Have to agree with all the comments already mentioned. The Gamer is a very good ball which has been catapulted into the great category in my books due to the fact that I can get a box of them for $15. Very nice feel with no distance issues. Durability is an issue as mentioned by BFC due to the ease of cutting the cover with well struck irons/wedges. However, I have the same problems with Pro V1's as well so.... Anyway, I highly recommend this good performing ball for half the price of similarily constructed balls.

Another thought on this. They are a great price but I have found out that they don't last very long. I tend to chew them up with my wedges. So, low price, good distance and spin, but I need more of them then other brands. Not sure if I will continue with them or try somthing else.

My own $.02. This ball is awesome. I get such a great penetrating and straight ball flight out of this ball. I'm not good enough to be paying for Pro v1's, but I sure am for these $18 balls. Absolutely great value that cannot be beat!!!

After reading the reviews here and in Golf Digest picked up a dzn and played the same ball for 18. Decent feel and a very soft cover, was able to get the ball to check easily and look forward to playing a few more rounds with the ball. However, glad they are on about $20 a dzn as after the round the cover was scuffed up pretty good. I found the distance to be comparable to the Noodles I usually play but they did check better and I left a few chips short because of this. Overall a great ball for the price, but might like them to be a little more durable.

A good value buy. Performance has been good, good driver distance, decent green side performance, good feel...... not outstanding in any area though. The cover does scar very easily which is not good. I found the Gamer to be a good ball, worth a try if you are not wanting to spend a lot of $$ on a dozen balls.

The cover is way to soft! Could be a decent ball but they really do not last longer than a couple of holes.

It is soft.....im not the kind that shreds balls very easily but even i can tear these up and i haven't even used them in a round yet, just practicing chipping..

it's ok, but for how much it shreds it should spin way more

spin is just average for me, and the things just get destroyed by my wedges (cg10, not even crazy zip/mackdaddy/spin milled grooves)

I bought a dozen, and once I put them all in the woods I don't think I'll be buying more to replace them

Was very skeptical until I played a round. Not anymore. This ball has snap off the tee. They fly long and true. The ball feels great off mid-irons and checks up beautifully (more drop/stop than spin-back). It will scuff quickly off trees and cart paths. My wedge shots are typically softer and closer in (not bragging...I'm a mid-cap hack), so I don't shred them with my old Vokey. Maybe my grooves are just worn out. These balls remind me a lot of the old Top Flite Tour (later called Strata Tour Soft). Got a dozen of my own for $16.95 @ Golf Galaxy. it's not a ProV or Tour i. But it doesn't have to be. It's good on its own terms.

I guess the ball is ok. I wasn't really much of a fan of either dozen that I bought. I really didn't like the feel at all. And I can't really describe what I didn't like about the feel. The ball just wasn't for me at all. I like the Bstone e5 a ton more.

Great ball for the price- Like the D2 Feel. This one might spin a bit more. Neither can really take a beating as they scuff really easily for me. Distance, however, is all Top Flite- let 'em fly. I love these off the tee. Decent off the irons and wedges, but after a few holes they're torn up. Again, if you don't hate your money, they're great.

They would spin more if they weren't shredding. When the ball shreds it's not being gripped by the club face as well, the ball is slipping while the cover is being ripped off so you're losing lots of RPMs.

Probably the best or at least one of the best $20 balls I've played, but I would rather play a $40 ball that will make it through 18+ holes with out needing to be replaced. :)

Good value ball. Decent distance and very good spin for the price. Two downers for me:

1) Although the ball felt fine for me off full shots it had too hard a feel on chips and definitely felt too hard off my putter - I prefer a softer feel for the delicate stuff.

2) The cover shreds far too easily. I guess for the price I shouldn't expect more but it still grates; I don't like changing a ball every 4-5 holes.

Overall, decent but I'll look elsewhere I think.

The new Golf Digest Hot List for 2009 Golf Balls ranked Gamer best in class, for Performance and Innovation. The quote goes something like this:

"VERDICT: Sophisticated in its technology, Gamer achieves more performance per dollar than any ball in golf."

I agree with all the above. I've been using them since last August and I've been very happy with the. They do scar easily, but I haven't noticed much of an impact on performance. For the performance you get from the ball, $20 bucks a dozen really seems like a steal.

I've played many rounds with the Gamer.

They are not as good as a ProV1. But it's a better deal on a ball that's not that far off.

The Gamer is great for players not looking to spend a fortune on golf balls but still wants a high RPM ball.

They do cut up a bit. But not badly. I don't notice any notable negative reaction from being slightly scuffed up.

good feel, ok distance, they hold up ok on my miura wedges.

great ball especially for the price, i got them at golf town up here in canada for 1.98 for the 2 balls mini sleeves, and no limit on what you can buy.

Just finished playing a round with a guy that plays the Gamer. He used to play with ProVs and now he swears by the Gamers.

Has anyone hit the two to compare?

The Gamers are definitely easier on the wallet.

I bought a dozen of these on the way to a match with my father, having forgotten to throw my normal ball (Callaway HX Hot Bite) in the bag and already being a fairly good distance from my house to turn around and pick them up. I'd heard good things about the ball, so I picked up a dozen on a whim to see what they were like.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but these went left all day. I didn't change anything about my swing, but they seem to enjoy flying off to the left a lot. I hit one (count 'em... one) green the entire day.

They're super-straight. Not once did the ball draw or fade, which is ok by me - I'm not advanced enough to effectively work a ball like that. But for those that enjoy a workable ball, I'd have to advise otherwise.

They bite pretty well, and are very durable. I didn't find any groove marks on the balls as I was playing, only some relatively minor scuffs. They definitely roll out more than my normal Hot Bites, but I expected that somewhat.

The thing that makes me really not like this ball, though, is the feel. It, for me, lives up to the old Rock-Flite moniker, as I felt like I was playing stickball with these things. Didn't like the sound, and for some reason, I could not nail down the ball's speed on the greens all day.

It's a great ball for an amateur like me, but one that's more focused on cost control than quality, in my opinion. I gave it a 2 because I feel that they mismarketed the ball, but it definitely has its good uses.
