Current shaft closest to Old FCM Rifle flighted shafts

Recommended Posts

I picked up an old set of irons w/ the old school FCM Rifle flighted 6.0 shafts. I absolutely love the feeling of this shaft. Eveything about this shaft (weight, kickpoint, balance, trajectory) is on point for my iron swing. What current shaft out there would be the closest in spec and feel to the flighted 6.0? Can anybody help me out here? Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid I can't answer your question. But I know that if I found a set of irons with shafts that felt and worked that well for me, then THAT set of shafts would be moved into whatever heads I was playing/wanting at the time.

If you love the Flighted Rifle why not just get a set?

Thanks for the link and suggestion but I don't build clubs and don't know anyone in my area who I would trust to do it. I live in North OC and any forum search for clubmakers in the area usually produces nada. So being that there's no trusted club builders in the area, I only order clubs fully built from OEMs to my specs. And obviously I can no longer order irons w/ these shafts hence the question.

Bring the clubs to me and I'll build them for you. There are no other shafts like Flighted Rifles in the marketplace.

The new Rifle FCM model who came to the marked in 2012 would be the closest.

For the FLIGHTED version, there is a difference.

The original was a mix of shaft blanks who made them even more descending than normal descending weight shafts.

The new model is all made from the same blank, so its less weight difference from long to short, its simply another flex slope to make them flighted.

Both standard and flighted flex slope is described here.

No - the new model came in 2012 as Parallel tip, but the Taper version has been added lately.

Actually, you are wrong. Accra/PGMC partnered with True Temper over 2 years ago. This January, they released a newly designed Rifle shaft available in parallel and taper tip.

I'm confused. There is a new Rifle shaft? Got a link? I thought Accra/PGMC was a graphite shaft maker?

So the newer Flighted Rifles are just slightly stiffer short irons and slightly softer longer irons? That's an odd change

So the 2012 model is out, and a new Rifle model "3" is released ?

Its strange that both specs and tip trim is the same.....

PS! ive been a PFC dealer since january 2011, and Rifle was PFC exclusive from the new model in 2012.

its a different flex slope, so the difference is progressive, just look at those flex slopes and compare

The #6 iron is the same, then they go softer into the long, and stronger into the short.

Yeah, I understand. I don't think they should be called Rifle Flighted, since they're much different than the original

Flighted is about flight pattern in the set as a hole, and they work as they should, so i dont see why they should have a different label.

IMO its a improvement overall since net shaft weight in the set is less descending than the original Flighted.

yes, I am aware that you were PFC, but you also kind of got out of the business too, so you may be out of the loop. I'd suggest contacting Accra/PGMC.

Im still part of the pfc system, im grandfathered into it, and the misunderstanding must come from pfc newsletter from january this year prononcing Rifle is back.....it was with a reference to the taper tip options only. The parallel tips has been there since 2012
