I like the dimple design, at least in the picture. Does anyone know if this is a replacement for something or an addition to the current line?

Edit: I saw in the article on the main Golfwrx site that it is a test product.

Agreed. I'll hit mine at least once. Hopefully they work better for the second owner.

I’m guessing this is Titleist’s response to the new cheaper urethane balls on the market that are slowly nibbling away at their market share.

    From the front page article:

The new three-piece golf balls will hit the shelves of golf shops and retail stores for the same price as Titleist’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls on October 6 in only Florida, California and Arizona to evaluate the demand for such a product.

3 piece urethane ball for the same price as a Pro V... that doesn't make any sense. Mine as well just replace the dimple pattern on the ProV and call it the ProV17

Even if successful, I don't think so. Going to be sold at the same price point as the ProV1 line. Titleist will still need a mid-market priced ball.

On the ball, the yellow looks great.

Why would people buy this for the same price as the ProV1?

I agree. Also, the ProV1 has been getting softer and softer each generation. I don't think the difference in feel will be all that dramatic. The only plus is the yellow option.

Sounds like Titleist testing the waters for a "soft" ball offering. Price should be below PV1 though.

I agree. They really should take a page from Srixon and make a quality consistent high end ball, mid range, and low. There are too many different balls out there. There needs to be expensive, moderate, and cheap.

Titleist with a swing and a miss!

That's like Ford pricing the Focus the same as a loaded Mustang...

Good for me. I'll save some money and I won't be losing any of these.

How do you get marketshare back when you're offering another ball at your highest price? Desperation doesn't look good on you, Titleist

Another $4 ball I will never use.

Don't know how big a market share they have but is this an attempt to compete with the Bridgestone RX, a premium-priced ball for slower swing speeds?

Looks like the Project A TM ball and Srixon Q star eurethane balls from a performance stand point. Which are both lower list price than their Tour based offerings.

Probably should have looked at this ball as topping their amateur sales due to the low compression and priced it inline with the Kirkland ball to hit them with at least a punch. At the ProV1 price seems a little like pushing a boulder up hill to me from a sales volume stand point. It is nice to see Titleist to expand the premium range though. I will compare when available to my current Nike RZN Tour Platinum balls for sure.

Desparate is when you undercut. Cocky is when you overprice.

Looks like this is the YELLOW and SOFTER ProV1 many have been asking for. You want it? Pay!! No desperation to be found around these parts.

Why at that price point? It will never sell. I guess that's why they are only in 3 markets to start.

No wonder their sales are in the toilet.

It doesn't make sense because final pricing hasn't been set yet for nationwide release. It could very well change depending on the feedback they get. Then again, it might not. Got my info from our Titleist rep.

The pricing seems crazy to me as well. But obviously many of us are way under-estimating the "premium" golf market. $2000 for irons, $500 for drivers, $50 for a dozen balls, heck even $400 for just a shaft! It seems that every OEM is joining the price game. And if you look at the golf course market......luxury resort/destination golf seems to be the only thing doing well. Some people out there with deep pockets.

But I'm not one of them. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> That said, it's worth at least a box to see if they hype is warranted. They're supposed to be ProV1-like, with less greenside spin, but longer than either of the ProV1 versions and supposed to be longer than a SuperSoft. Then again, the new DT is supposed to be longer than the SS as well.
